Demon Slayer season 4 has been officially announced by Studio Ufotable following the third season’s sensational finale. We’re all eager to know how the upcoming season will pan out, but before that, you must be curious to know when to expect the fourth season. If you’re here to find that out, keep reading as we’ll discuss everything we know about the fourth season of Demon Slayer so far!!
Based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga, Demon Slayer anime took the world by storm as it instantly garnered millions of fans worldwide. The studio had anticipated the anime to perform well. After all, the series was a modern shonen manga with catchy concepts like demons, friendships, adventure, and martial arts.
Also, Demon Slayer manga had about 3.5 million copies already in circulation, which meant it had enough fans to get an anime adaptation.
But by the time the first season of the anime adaptation concluded, Demon Slayer had already crashed every record for a manga by selling over 40 million copies. At the same time, the anime was nominated for several awards, out of which it pocketed multiple awards.
While this earned the series a permanent spot among the top 10 most popular series of all time, it also made several of us wonder what caused all the scales to tip in Demon Slayer’s favor.
At this, the skeptics claimed that Demon Slayer’s success was only because of its shonen nature and not for its novel ideas. Tanjiro’s willpower and wild tactics undoubtedly remind us of a typical shonen hero who will do everything to protect his loved ones. Also, the series does make a huge deal out of sibling relationships, a prophesied hero, and solo training.
Though all these traits distinguish Demon Slayer anime from the shonen giants, I agree that its fame has much to do with its shonen nature. It’s because when I watched the first episode of Demon Slayer, I felt the same lingering taste of thrill and joy from my childhood memories that came with watching my first-ever anime.
Considering that, it’s no wonder anime was renewed for season 2 and season 3. But as the third season of Demon Slayer has ended, we’re all wondering if the series will be renewed one more time.
Will There Be A Demon Slayer Season 4?
Yes, Demon Slayer Season 4 is officially greenlit, as the series’ official media account released a PV shortly after the Demon Slayer season 3 finale aired.
According to the PV announcement, the incoming sequel will cover Demon Slayer’s “Hashira Geiko Arc,” aka “Hashira Training Arc.”
There’s not much information revealed because the fourth season is still in production, as the third season just concluded. However, we know that the anime is slowly inching towards its conclusion as only three story arcs are left before the anime concludes.
Demon Slayer Season 4 Trailer
Unfortunately, there’s no trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Demon Slayer anime. However, we’ll soon get a proper trailer showcasing what to expect in the story next. Instead of a trailer or teaser, the studio released a PV announcing the upcoming arc.
The PV released by Aniplex Channel shows all the Hashiras that’ll appear in the upcoming season of the anime, but it doesn’t give away many details about the upcoming season’s release schedule or cast & crew members.
Have a look at the PV for yourself:
When Does Demon Slayer Season 4 Come Out?
So far, there’s no official release date for Demon Slayer season 4. As fans, we all want the anime to come out as soon as possible, but we cannot expect the anime to release earlier than 2024.
The reason why I’ve mentioned the next year is not just because Demon Slayer season 3 has just ended, and most anime series take at least 4-6 months before releasing another season. But it’s also because studio Ufotable seems to have a tight schedule for the year as it’s currently busy working on Genshin Impact Series and Girl’s Work.
That said, Demon Slayer has become studio Ufotable’s top-grossing product, so we may see the season much earlier than our expectations.
What to Expect From Demon Slayer Season 4?
So far, Demon Slayer has featured tremendous growth in Tanjiro’s strength, and several characters have remarked on his untapped potential. Also, we’ve just learned that Nezuko can survive the sun, which pushes the story’s plot into the endgame.
But the Demon Slayer season 3 finale also showed how the stakes for Tanjiro have risen a lot as Muzan has decided to devour Nezuko to overcome his inability to walk in the sunlight.
Since the first three seasons of Demon Slayer have covered 127 manga chapters, Demon Slayer season 4 was expected to pick the story from chapter 128. This is officially confirmed as the PV released after the third season finale declared that the upcoming season will cover the next arc in the series, i.e., “Hashira Training Arc.”
And so, we’ll see all the Hashiras give the lower-ranking Demon Slayer Corps members, including Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, the much-needed training to get stronger before their ultimate battle against Muzan and his demonic forces.
However, Muzan has grown desperate to walk in the sunlight, so we’ll also see him and his underlings coming for Nezuko. Once the “Hashira Training Arc” ends, the final battle begins when Muzan finds Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
But it’s currently unknown how many episodes will be in Demon Slayer season 4. And so, we don’t know how much content will be covered in the upcoming season.
That said, the “Hashira Training Arc” is a very small arc, with only a few chapters in it, so it’s likely that we’ll see the “Infinity Castle Arc” in the fourth season too, where the Hashiras will fight against the Upper Demon Moons in the Infinity Castle!
Demon Slayer Season 4 Cast & Crew Details
Though studio Ufotable hasn’t officially announced the cast and crew details for season 4 of Demon Slayer, we can expect the staff from the previous seasons to reprise its role.
And so, we’ll likely see Haruto Sotozaki as the chief director. Meanwhile, Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina will be returning as music directors. Similarly, Akira Matsushima will likely reprise his role as the character designer.
But we cannot say for sure if the producers will return as Ufotable has been contracting new producers each season.
We can also expect the cast from previous seasons to return, so we will likely see:
- Akari Kitô as Nezuko Kamado
- Natsuki Hanae as Tanjiro Kamado
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Inosuke Hashibira
- Toshihiko Seki as Muzan Kibutsuji
- Toshiyuki Morikawa as Kagaya Ubuyashiki
- Hiro Shimono as Zenitsu Agatsuma
- Kana Hanazawa as Love Hashira, i.e., Mitsuri Kanroji
- Kengo Kawanishi as Mist Hashira, i.e., Muichiro Tokito
- Ai Kayano as Flower Hashira, i.e., Kanae Kocho
Is Demon Slayer Manga Finished?
Yes, the Demon Slayer manga is finished, as the series’ last chapter came out on May 18, 2020. The manga contains a total of 205 chapters compiled in 23 tankabon volumes.
But the anime has covered only 126 manga chapters or about 15 manga volumes. And so, if you want to read Demon Slayer manga after watching anime, you should start reading from manga chapter 127.
Conclusion
The fourth season of Demon Slayer is officially confirmed, but there’s no official release date. We can expect the anime to cover Tanjiro’s and other demon slayers’ intense training, but we don’t know how many episodes will be in the upcoming season. However, studio Ufotable will remain responsible for the series, so we can anticipate an action-filled season.
