If you are a fan of the show, you might have asked yourself how many arcs are in Demon Slayer, and here I am to answer that question. In this article, I will list all Demon Slayer arcs and give details about what to expect from them.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is one of the most popular anime series. After the unimaginable success of the first season and the explosive popularity of the second season, the title is the hottest property in the world of anime, and fans eagerly await the upcoming season’s premiere.
Certain fans would like to wait for the anime’s new season to watch the story go forward, while some fans would like to know what’s going to happen next right now. That’s why they turn to manga to read the next arcs. I am one of those people. I wouldn’t say I like waiting for the next season; I would read the manga as soon as the anime concludes.
You, too, are just like me. That’s the reason why you landed on this page. You want to know about all the Demon Slayer arcs to figure out how much story remains and whether you should read the manga or watch the anime.
You can do both, read the manga and then watch the anime. Since Demon Slayer is known for its insane animation, it’s great to see your favorite manga panels and fights come to life on your screen.
So, let’s not waste any more time and find out how many arcs are in Demon Slayer and how to read them in proper order!
All Demon Slayer Arcs in Order:
Unlike other anime shows like Bleach or Naruto, there aren’t any filler episodes in Demon Slayer. Also, it follows a seasonal approach where it adapts just one or two arcs every season and releases just a handful of episodes.
This helps it maintain good quality in animation and release schedules and doesn’t affect the story’s pacing.
So, there’s no difference in the number of story arcs between Demon Slayer’s anime and manga. The story arcs in anime are identical to the Demon Slayer manga arcs, and I have mentioned them all below.
Spoiler Warning: The anime has only covered the story till the Entertainment District Arc. However, I have listed all the arcs and provided information for them too. If you don’t want to be spoiled, I suggest you don’t read past the Entertainment District arc because you will find several significant spoilers.

All Demon Slayer Arcs Explained:
1. Final Selection Arc
The very first arc of Demon Slayer introduces us to Tanjiro Kamado and his lovely family. Tanjiro is the eldest among the siblings and makes a living as a charcoal seller.
However, his peaceful life becomes tragic instantly when he returns home one day only to find his entire family slaughtered by a demon. The only surviving member is his sister, Nezuko Kamado, who has been transformed into a demon.
After a chance encounter with Giyu Tomioka, Tanjiro meets Urokodaki Sakonji to train under him to become a demon slayer so that he can hunt the demons and find a way to cure his sister.
Tanjiro undergoes two years of harsh training to pass the selection exam to become a demon slayer. The arc ends with him going on a journey to hunt the demons.
2. Kidnapper’s Bog Arc
The second arc of the story, Kidnapper’s Bog arc, features Tanjiro getting his very first mission and discovering firsthand how vicious demons can be.
After officially becoming a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro gets his first mission to head to the village and investigate why young women are going missing. In his search, he finds that there’s a demon behind the kidnappings.
Since Tanjiro has no experience fighting against demons, the demon proves to be a handful for him. But he isn’t alone; he’s got Nezuko Kamado to help him complete his mission of eliminating the demon.
3. Asakusa Arc
The next arc in the story is short as Tanjiro and Nezuko find themselves in Asakusa, where they meet Tamayo and Yushiro, two docile demons who want to live a peaceful life and not harm humanity.
This is also the arc where we first meet the series’s main antagonist, Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of all demons!
Tamayo and Yushiro share the same goal as the Demon Slayers, to get rid of the demons plaguing humanity. The duo takes Tanjiro and Nezuko to their home to care for their wounds. However, their meeting is cut short when two powerful demons attack them. These demons are acting on the orders of Muzan, who wants to get rid of Tanjiro because his appearance reminded him of a particular Demon Slayer from the past, a person that Muzan fears the most!
4. Tsuzumi Mansion Arc
The Tsuzumi Mansion arc was one of the best Demon Slayer arcs in terms of action and the way the fight scenes were animated. This arc also introduces two more main characters of the series, Zenitsu Agatsumo and Inosuke Hashibira.
Tanjiro gets a mission to investigate a mysterious house. When he reaches there, he meets a pair of siblings who reveal that the house belongs to a monster and that their oldest brother was dragged in. Tanjiro and Zenitsu enter the mansion only to find that the rooms inside can shift and become a maze. They encounter the demon, Kyogai, who can control the rooms in the house as he sees fit.
But they are not alone in the mansion. There’s Inosuke, a young demon slayer who wears a boar mask, and other demons in the mansion too!
5. Mount Natagumo Arc
Following the epic action in the previous arc, the demon slayer trio, Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu, get another mission to go to Mount Natagumo.
The mountain is home to a family of spider demons, with Rui being their leader and one of the Demon Moons, some of the most powerful demons who serve directly under Muzan Kibutsuji. He proved to be the most powerful foe the demon slayers had faced till now.
Not only did Tanjiro face a tough time fighting the different demons on the mountain, but he also had to face the reality that demons kill many people as he discovers that several demon slayers have died on the mountain.
6. Rehabilitation Training Arc
Until now, only a few people knew of the existence of Nezuko. But following the previous arc, most demon slayers know about her.
The Demon Slayer Corps exist to eliminate all the demons, but Nezuko is unique and quite different from other demons. So, the Hashira, the strongest among the Demon Slayers, put Nezuko and Tanjiro on trial as they look for the next course of action.
However, the brother-sister duo is saved by Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, who deems it unnecessary to punish Nezuko. Meanwhile, Muzan Kibutsuji also summons other demons to intensify his search for Tanjiro Kamado.
7. Mugen Train Arc
Mugen Train arc is the seventh arc of Demon Slayer that was adapted into the movie titled Demon Slayer-Kimetsu no Yaiba-The Movie: Mugen Train!
The story takes place on Mugen Train, where the trio of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, along with Nezuko, fight against several demons. Kyojuro Rengoku, the Fire Hashira, accompanied them, and they fought against Enmu, who had the power to fuse with the train and put all the passengers in a dream-like state.
He wasn’t the only antagonist of the arc, as Akaza, one of the Upper Demon Moons, dropped in at the end. He revealed he was the third strongest demon, serving under Muzan Kibutsuji, and he proved to be as powerful as he said.
8. Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc
The Demon Slayer Entertainment District arc featured Tanjiro and his friends going to the Red Light District along with Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke have to disguise themselves as women and go undercover in brothels to not only look for any information on the demon plaguing the district but also for any information about Tengen’s three wives who were there investigating but have gone missing since then.
The series introduced the Upper Moon demons, Daki and Gyutaro, a brother-sister pair who prove to be much too powerful for our group of heroes.
This arc has some of the best fights in the series. Not only did we see Zenitsu and Inosuke go over their limits to take down these demons, we even saw Tanjiro overwhelming Daki with his immense strength. Even Nezuko showed that she isn’t just an ordinary demon as she was able to overpower Daki completely.
9. Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc
Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village arc is the ninth arc in the series, and we are about to see it animated with season 2’s release!
In this arc, Tanjiro and Nezuko head over to the village of the swordsmiths to get his blade repaired. There he meets with Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, and Genya, another of the demon slayers just like him. There’s also Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, in the village.
But they aren’t the only ones in the village, as two Upper-rank demons soon attack them. Tanjiro, Nezuko, Genya, and Mitsuri engage in battle against Hantengu, Upper Rank 4, while Muichiro starts his fight against Gyokko, Upper Rank 5.
10. Hashira Training Arc
The Hashira Training arc of Demon Slayer is a short arc where the current Hashiras train the demon slayers to improve their overall health and abilities, and as such, the training is intense.
Tanjiro undergoes training under all the Hashiras – Tengen helps with stamina training, Muichiro helps with improving overall speed, Obanai trains him to be a better swordsman, Mitsuri helps with flexibility, Sanemi helps with strength training, while Gyomei helps with muscle building.
While the harsh training is underway, there’s a demon lurking around as it is spying on all the demon slayers. And by the end of the arc, Muzan appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion!
11. Final Battle: Infinity Castle Arc
The Infinity Castle arc is the first half of the Final Battle arc in the Demon Slayer arcs in order list, and this is where the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji and his demons ultimately begins!
The Demon Slayer Corps is ready to take on Muzan and purge him from existence, and they find themselves inside Infinity Castle, where they fight against all the Upper Moon demons. Shinobu fights Doma, Tanjiro and Giyu fight Akaza, Mitsuri and Obanai fight Nakime, and Muichiro Tokito, Genya Shinazugawa, Sanemi Shinazugawa and Gyomei Himejima battle against Kokushibo.
The entire arc is filled with epic action. The demons beat up many fan-favorite characters, and many demons are killed as well. Plus, the tragic backstories of the demons are revealed!
12. Final Battle: Sunrise Countdown Arc
Following the battles inside the Infinity Castle, the Demon Slayer Corps engages Muzan Kibutsuji, who’s been poisoned by Tamayo. They aim to kill or keep him engaged in battle until sunrise. The battle leads to the deaths of several Hashira.
After a long and arduous battle, the Demon Slayers manage to take down Muzan once and for all, but they haven’t completed their mission yet. Muzan has infected Tanjiro, and he becomes the Demon King, who is completely immune to sunlight.
The remaining members of the Demon Slayer Corps now battle against Tanjiro, hoping to cure him and reawaken him as a human!
