Over the course of multiple generations, the games and series have introduced dozens of legendary Pokémon that are not only extremely rare but also considered to be one of the most powerful types of Pokémon of all time.
What makes these Pokémon different from the rest is that they don’t hatch from an egg and they can’t breed. Moreover, expect a few exceptions, these legendary beasts cannot evolve but most of them do have separate forms that they can change into depending on the situation at hand.
Usually, these legendary Pokémon are targeted by villains who seek to control life in the Pokémon Universe. Since most of these Pokémon are extremely powerful and said to be in control of certain elements in the Pokémon universe, they are really tough to capture. In this article, we are going to have a look some of the best legendary-type Pokémon introduced in the series so far.

21. Virizion
Virizion is a dual-type Grass/Fighting Pokémon that was introduced in Generation V and is not known to evolve to or from other Pokémon.
This is a stag-like grass Pokémon with very sharp horns at the side of its head, green feathers, and green hooves on its legs. It does not like humans and fights to protect other Pokémon from human influence. Virizion’s horns are incredibly sharp and serve as a potent weapon against its enemies.

20. Urshifu

Urhsifu is a bear-like Pokémon with massive muscles and white fur that flows. In attack, it relies on its fists to destroy enemies. Urshifu finishes off its enemies in one blow and does not relent until they are destroyed. When it transforms, it is known to completely lose control in attack.

19. Terrakion

This bull-like rock-type Pokémon has two powerful horns and spikes atop its head. Also, it has fierce, orange eyes and powerful teeth. Terrakion dedicates itself to protecting the Pokémon universe from human interference. It is maternal and will annihilate whatever seeks to harm little Pokémon. Also, it can tear down massive walls in a single blow.

18. Reshiram

This legendary Pokémon is a snow-white, dragon-like creature with long white hair. It has blue eyes with three claws on its feet. Also, Reshiram has three rings wrapped around its tail. When its mouth is opened, you can easily see its very sharp fangs. When it gets angry or provoked, its tail turns to fire. The inflammation is the source of its power and gives the ability to move at great speeds.

Regigigas is an abnormally formed Pokémon with six eyes in multiple colors that look like gemstones. Also, it has two long arms, three plug-like fingers, and green moss on its shoulders. Regigigas can move continents and survive regardless of temperature. It also hates disruption from its enemies and is ready to cause havoc if provoked.

16. Zekrom
Zekrom is a dual-type Dragon/Electric Pokémon. It was introduced in Generation V and is not known to evolve to or from other Pokémon.
This is a powerful, armor-like Pokémon and it is dark, with a light shade that comes from its red eyes. It has large feet, arms and on its shoulders, two extensions that look like armored wings. On its back, Zekrom has a large cannon-like tail and two horns that look like lightning bolts. This electric-type Pokémon can produce energy, levitate, and even fly and it can use its massive energy core to destroy cities that have become evil.

15. Zacian
Zacian is a fairy-type legendary Pokémon which was introduced in Generation VIII. It does not evolve but with a Rusted Sword, it can activate its “Crowned Sword” form!
Zacian is an equestrian Pokémon that has yellow eyes and a pink tail with pink braids. On its body, wounds are visible from its many battles. On its head, a golden helmet is visible and on its body, there’s a golden sword. As Zacian sleeps, it transforms into a statue. Also, it can fly and moves just like a dancer. In attack, it wields a sword in its mouth and sways beautifully to attract its opponents.

14. Zamazenta
Zamazenta is a fighting-type Pokémon that was introduced in Generation VIII. This Pokémon does not evolve but it takes on a second form known as “Crowned Shield” when it has a Rusted Shield.
This is a red, blue, and grey Pokémon with battle scars on its body, and its blue hair is drawn back like a ponytail. It has a blue tail and blue hooves as well. In battle, Zamazenta can transform itself by absorbing metals. Also, it can create clones of itself and move with grace and poise. This Pokémon’s movement allows it to overpower enemies and its golden shield makes it impenetrable.

13. Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf
Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf are Psychic-type Pokémon that were introduced in Generation IV. These Pokémon are collectively known as Lake Guardians.
Uxie is a small Pokémon and it is the bringer of knowledge. It has yellow hair that wraps around its head like a turban. It has a gem on its forehead and two long tails. Although it has feet, it prefers to balance itself on its tail. Mesprit looks just like Uxie except for its pink hair that looks like a hat with four appendages. It is known as the being of emotion and if anyone touches it, it would have their emotions taken away.
Unlike its other kind, Azelf has blue hair that points upwards. It is known as the being of willpower and has the power to control a person’s will or enter their body. It can give humans the strong will to face their troubles. But if it is harmed, it can completely immobilize its victims by making them lose all will in life.

12. Kyurem
Kyurem is a dual-type Dragon/Ice Pokémon. It was introduced in Generation V and it does not evolve but has two other forms known as White Kyurem and Black Kyurem.
Kyurem is a dragon-like Pokémon that has ice on its head and shoulders that stretch out and appear to be its wings. Also, this ice-type Pokémon has two icicles at the tip of its wings and a tail that contains the core of its energy.

11. Yveltal

It also has lines that look like veins, running from its chest to its wings and tail. Using its wings and tail, this dark-type Pokémon can absorb energy from anything around it and then turn itself into a cocoon. When absorbing life force, Yveltal turns bright red.

10. Groudon
Groudon is a ground-type Pokémon that was introduced in Generation III. It does not evolve but transforms into Primal Groudon and becomes Ground/Fire-type when exposed to a Red Orb.
This is a robot-like Pokémon that has a mixed coloration of red and grey with stakes on its body. Groudon’s skin is thick to the point of impenetrability. Also, Groudon has a big tail with blades at the end of it. In its Primal Groudon state, its skin becomes deep crimson and its teeth become black. Its energy burns at such a high temperature that its body starts to glow. When this happens, it can incite a volcanic eruption from its body. It is also powerful enough to cause droughts.

9. Dialga

Dialga is a time traveler and has the power to manipulate time for its pleasure. Time and Dialga are so connected that it is believed that when this steel-type Pokémon was born, time began to move. It can sometimes exhibit violent behaviors towards other Pokémon.

8. Palkia
Palkia is a dual-type Water/Dragon Pokémon. It was introduced in Generation IV and it is not known to evolve.

Also, Palkia can travel from one place to the other using its pink orb. Sometimes, it even travels to other dimensions and can create a whole new universe.

7. Xerneas

With these comes different features and colors. It can give life to others but this comes with a warning. Too much life given to others would be detrimental to itself.

6. Lugia
Lugia is a dual-type Psychic/Flying Pokémon. It was introduced in Generation II and it is not known to evolve into any other Pokémon.
This is a dragon-like Pokémon that is colored blue in multiple shades. It has a ridged beak-like mouth and pointed teeth. Due to its environment, this flying-type Pokémon is perfectly streamlined for aerial movement and to increase its speed, Lugia can flatten the plates on its back. It is ruthlessly protective of its young and can create massive storms in attack. To prevent ceaseless destruction, it will lodge itself underwater for extended periods of time.

5. Mewtwo

Mewtwo is war-like and is often regarded as an aggressor that can instill fear in its enemies. To regain its full power, it would stay in one position without moving. When it is fully rejuvenated, it would unleash mayhem on its enemies.

4. Eternatus

It has a glowing pink core in its ribs and this serves as its energy source. The energy of this poison-type Pokémon can turn into massive blasts and can even cause a great storm.

3. Rayquaza

Rayquaza is a serpentine dragon-type Pokémon which is green and has horns, protrusions, and two tapering fins. Across its length, it has yellow ring-like patterns. Also, it has a ridged brow above small eyes, and its head flares out at the back like that of Charizard. It has a row of four short red ovals on its belly and a fifth on its neck.
When this legendary Pokémon mega-evolves, it transforms physically and gains more features. In addition to its unrivaled capacity for attack, Rayquaza is a solitary animal.

2. Ho-Oh

This colorful, peacock-like Pokémon is regal, and beautifully patterned in yellow, white, and green. Ho-Oh is extremely beautiful and has wings that leave a streak of rainbow colors when it flies. This fire-type Pokémon is extremely powerful and it can even raise the dead.
Ho-Oh also gravitates towards trainers that have positive characteristics. It also has a prismatic wing and is the only Pokemon that’s known to execute the Sacred Fire move.

Giratina is a dual-type Ghost/Dragon Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. This Pokémon does not evolve but it has a second forme known as “Origin forme.”
Giratina is a gigantic legendary Pokémon with six legs and dark wings that appear to have spikes on them. It has a yellow helmet and a yellow ribcage around its chest. This ghost-type Pokémon is inter-dimensional and has ghost-like features. Giratina has an altered forme and enjoys being by itself. Also, they are hyper-aggressive and territorial. As a result, other Pokémon prefer not to associate with them.
