The Vinland Saga season 2 release date is confirmed, and everyone’s favorite, Thorfinn the Great, will be returning to our screens sooner than you know!
The anime’s first season was extremely successful, so successful that it made a spot for itself among the best anime shows of all time. And the title’s manga series is very popular as well. After the anime’s first season ended in 2019, fans were left to wait desperately for the second season. With no news of the next release, the only option was to pray and make the creators realize the need for season 2.
Finally, the wait and prayers paid off, and we have a release date for the anime’s second season. The first season ended with 24 episodes. About the manga, the anime covered 54 chapters that marked the end of the series’ first arc, “The War Arc.”
Season 2 of Vinland Saga is expected to continue from there onwards. The anime will begin with Volume 8 of the manga series. The creators have finally revealed the release date for the anime’s second season. However, the fans still have to wait a few weeks before we can start the actual countdown. Nonetheless, the positive factor is that waiting while knowing when it is coming out is better than waiting without knowing if it will ever come out.

What is Vinland Saga Anime About?
The epic and historical series Vinland Saga begins with an innocent child named Thorfinn, whose life was pretty ordinary. Yet, a sudden appearance one day turns his everyday life into nothing but revenge. His father died at the hands of Askeladd, the mercenary leader who ambushed them on the seas one day.
Thorfinn’s sole purpose in life since then, and the driving factor, was to end the life of the man who killed his father. In the wake of that wish, he became a strong warrior. However, what Thorfinn desired wasn’t merely revenge but a fair fight with Askeladd.
But the best part of the story is that Askeladd was the one who trained Thorfinn to become what he is now. Yup, fate brought Thorfinn straight to Askeladd and began an unforgettable tale. Their connection, even knowing the dark history, makes the anime worth watching.
Thorfinn’s life is an adventure through and through with many events that somehow relate to real life. Even if you can’t relate, Thorfinn’s life and other events are portrayed so realistically that they almost feel real. The stories of Vikings and mercenaries, war, and hunger have never been showcased as brilliantly as in Vinland Saga. Not that I am spoiling it, but if you have already caught up with the manga, you must know what happens after the end of season 1.
The moment when Askeladd gets impaled by a sword was the moment where everyone felt how Thorfinn felt. His one true goal of killing Askeladd and taking his revenge was snatched away from him, and the only purpose of his life no longer existed. How he developed from there onwards and lived his life after his only goal and a special bond were shattered right in front of him is phenomenal.
The anime is fantastic as it does not bring in any extra drama or mismatched twists and plots. It simply showcases the lives of people struck by tragedy. Their circumstances as to why they live that way and how they live like that will strike your heart.
Season 2 of Vinland Saga will begin from the next arc in the story, “The Slave Arc.” The first arc was initially named the prologue, so many consider “The Slave Arc” the true beginning of the series. However, if it weren’t for the first arc, Vinland Saga wouldn’t be at the peak of popularity like now.
Vinland Saga, the manga, is currently ongoing with 196 chapters, and the author has announced that the manga will be ending soon.
Conclusion
Season 2 of Vinland Saga is expected to cover “The Slave Arc,” which starts from manga chapter 55. However, there is no news if the anime will also cover the third arc, “The Eastern Expedition Arc,” since we don’t know how many episodes will be there in season 2. Still, considering the popularity of the first season and the hype created by the manga, it is highly expected that the anime will get a complete adaptation and will have 24 episodes.
So, get ready for the new season of your favorite story because there’s not a lot of time before the season’s first episode airs. Vinland Saga season 2 release date is confirmed to be January 10, 2023; it will be one of the first anime to release in 2023 and will become the best anime of the year, without a doubt!
