In the world of Chainsaw Man, you can find many devils who threaten to cause chaos and destruction. Thus, there are devil hunters whose sole purpose is to hunt them down. These devil hunters might use traditional weapons like guns and swords, but most of the time, they perform contracts with captive devils to gain abilities that they use to fight and hunt, for a price, of course.
We can also find devil hybrids, and there are also fiends, who are half human and half devils, capable of using a large percentage of the abilities of the devil itself, and enjoying excellent physical capabilities, from considerable strength to fantastic speed and in most cases, astounding regeneration powers close to immortality. But who are the strongest devil hunters in Chainsaw Man?
I came up with a list showcasing what I believe are the most powerful devil hunters in the series, and we will talk about them in detail in this article!
Strongest Devil Hunters in Chainsaw Man (2022)
13. Beam – The Shark Fiend
Beam is one of the many fiends you will find on this list, and it is the one that represents the fear of sharks. Beam does enjoy plenty of physical capabilities that most devil fiends enjoy, including considerable durability.
But what definitely makes Beam unique is his powers related to the Shark Devil, as he can pretty much swim freely through any surface and has a big shark head that he uses to attack people by using its jaw and sharp teeth. He can also entirely turn into a fiend, pretty much assimilating the form of a giant shark with multiple eyes, which Denji rides in one of the manga chapters.
12. Power – The Blood Fiend
Power is one of the series’ main characters and a comrade of Denji and Aki. She’s the Blood Fiend, and as such, she can control her own blood to achieve many different techniques.
For instance, she can turn her blood into durable weapons, including spears or hammers. Thanks to her blood-bending skills, she’s also capable of closing her wounds. She can also control other’s blood through contact, achieving similar results.
If she manages to consume a lot of blood, or the blood of stronger beings than her, she can boost her powers, including her blood-bending skills and most of her physical capabilities, like her strength and speed.
11. Galgali – The Violence Fiend
This one is a simple fiend, although the fear of violence is undeniably something that most of us can understand. Galgali is stronger than your regular devil fiend since, although most fiends are indeed strong, he can be stronger than a full-fledged devil.
He’s also capable of shifting his body, gaining a lot of muscular mass to enhance his strength further. Experienced in close-quarter combat, Galgali can use his nature as the Violence Fiend to beat his enemies. It’s ironic that Galgali, although the Violence fiend, does not enjoy violence or fights at all!
10. Hirofumi Yoshida
Now, it’s time to talk about your traditional devil hunter. Hirofumi is a high school student who is also a member of the devil hunter organization and is well known for having a bad personality. With almost always a smile on his face, he can be rather ruthless and manipulative.
Although the price of his contract is yet unknown, he has a contract with the Octopus Devil, which allows him to summon massive tentacles which he can use to defend himself from attacks or to attack his enemies. He can also cast a command to summon ink to blind his enemies, making it easier to defeat them. As he was hired to protect Denji during one of the arcs of the manga, he’s undoubtedly strong enough to fight devils and devil hunters alike. So he deserves a place among the most powerful devil hunters in Chainsaw Man!
9. Aki Hayakawa
Aki is another of the series’ main characters, a comrade of both Power and Denji, and pretty much the one in charge of ensuring that they are not being reckless and causing chaos all around.
Throughout the series, Aki achieved multiple contracts with different devils, including the Fox Devil, the Future Devil, and the Curse Devil, each granting specific abilities. For instance, the Future Devil made it possible for him to take peeks into the future, predicting attacks to either dodge or counterattack them. Summoning the Fox Devil was his primary way of attacking – calling a giant fox monster to eat his enemies at the cost of parts of his own body.
The Curse Devil was his trump card, as he could curse people using a sword in the shape of a nail. Depending on the number of attacks he could land with the sword, he could inflict massive damage, even summoning the Curse Devil itself to twist the enemy’s limbs and take a bite of its body. However, this came at the cost of reducing Aki’s lifespan, so he could only use it for a limited amount of time and as a last resort.
8. Himeno
Himeno was one of the members of the group formed by Denji, Aki, and Power, and she cared for all of them, willing to do anything to protect them. She’s suffered a lot from losing many partners and constantly smokes to deal with what being a devil hunter usually entails.
As a devil hunter, she is contracted with the Ghost Devil, as she can summon invisible hands that can harm her enemies, sometimes fatally. This costs her parts of her body based on the number of hands she can summon, as she permanently sacrifices her right eye to call a hand. She’s also very experienced in hand-to-hand combat, adding even more skills to her repertoire!
7. Angel Devil
Contrary to hybrids or fiends, the Angel Devil is an actual devil, so he’s capable of doing things that most hybrids can’t. However, not a lot is known about the powers of the Angel Devil, as we weren’t able to see them in action as much as we would like.
That being said, the Angel Devil is one of the strongest devils in Chainsaw Man, and does have a lot of potential! We know that the Angel Devil is capable of siphoning the life of living beings, especially humans, and turning the absorbed life energy into weapons. The more life is spent on summoning a weapon, the stronger it will be, with some of those weapons being capable of instantly killing any being.
One of the reasons we didn’t have the chance to see the Angel Devil in action was that he was extremely lazy and disliked combat, even claiming that he would rather die than do his work.
6. Captain Kishibe
Captain Kishibe is one of those cases where a human is far scarier than your regular devil, which is reason enough to consider him as one of the strongest devil hunters in Chainsaw Man. He can be a rather ruthless person, but at the same time, sentimental, even worrying about Denji and Power, two individuals he trains during the story.
The reason why Captain Kishibe is scary is not really because of his contracts with the Claw, Knife, and Needle Devils, allowing him to use such weapons in combat. What makes him so scary is how capable of a fighter he is. He is a lot stronger than any ordinary human, much faster, and has inhuman reflexes far sharper than most characters of the series. He easily defeated Denji and Power, after all, and on multiple occasions!
5. Reze – The Bomb Devil Hybrid
The infamous Bomb Devil hybrid, also known as Reze, was undoubtedly one of the most liked characters in the series, not only because of how she was presented but also because of how cute she was. Sadly, the cuteness that Reze showcased towards Denji was nothing but an act; afterward, a sea of violence from her hands unveiled itself.
As the Bomb hybrid, Reze embodies the fear of bombs, which grants her many abilities which she uses to hunt down Denji to try to obtain his heart. One of her key abilities is the capability to create explosions. She does not only have one of the most durable bodies in the manga, as she can withstand her explosions, but she’s also capable of using a said explosion to move around, allowing her to fly and reach considerable speed.
4. Quanxi
Often referred to as the first demon hunter of them all, Quanxi is the hybrid of the Crossbow Devil and is capable of transforming into a devil hybrid that suits the representation of her concept. However, even without transforming, Quanxi is pretty strong, with Yoshida claiming that her strength greatly surpasses the power a human can achieve.
With said strength, Quanxi can use swords that pierce through multiple bodies as if they were butter. Not only that, she’s extremely fast as well, being able to jump between enemies without them even perceiving they have already been killed.
In her devil form, Quanxi can shoot an infinite amount of crossbow bolts, each with enough strength to pierce through flesh like a bullet piercing a balloon.
3. Denji – Chainsaw Hybrid
Denji, the protagonist of the series and the Chainsaw Devil Hybrid, is often recognized by devils as the strongest devil of them all. Sadly, Denji himself is often incapable of fully drawing the true potential of the Chainsaw Devil, thus, reducing its placement in the list.
For those who didn’t know, the Chainsaw Devil is not strong because of its concept but because all devils of hell fear it. It is capable of consuming their concepts, completely erasing them from existence. For instance, it was recently shown that the Chainsaw Devil consumed a part of the War Devil back in hell, causing wars to not start all around the world since the first world war, and significantly weakening the devil in the process.
Now, Denji himself can transform into the Chainsaw Devil, thus, using Chainsaws as his weapons. As long as he has enough blood to drink, he can keep going, as shown in his fight against Eternity Devil.
2. Santa Claus – The Doll Fiend
Santa Claus is a devil hunter whose power is not their raw physical capabilities but the true nature of his concept. As the Doll Fiend, Santa Claus is capable of controlling people by turning them into dolls, making him one of the most powerful devil hunters in Chainsaw Man!
The scary thing is that it can transfer his mind into them, and these dolls can infect other beings with a simple touch. Like an unkillable disease, getting rid of Santa Claus is almost unachievable. And he is one of the most feared assassins in the world, so if he comes after you, start counting your days.
1. Makima
Makima is a high-ranking devil hunter within the organization, with enough influence to take Denji and keep him a secret. Makima, however, is revealed near the end of the series to be the reincarnation of the Control Devil, one of the strongest devils of hell and a member of the Four Horsemen.
Besides having a lot of the standard powers most devils have, including near immortality and regeneration, she’s also capable of using her concept to control those she believes are inferior to her, including devils and humans alike, even forcing them to make contracts with her. This power can also be used in the deceased; thus, she has a vast repertoire of abilities at her disposal, making her the most dangerous entity in the world of Chainsaw Man besides the Chainsaw Devil at its peak.
Conclusion
Considering that many characters on this list have devil-like powers, including incredible regenerative capabilities, it can be a little difficult to assess how dangerous they can be. Yet, the power behind their concept plays a vital role in deciding the true potential of their existence. One thing is true, though, that Makima reigns at the top of the list of the strongest devil hunters in the world of Chainsaw Man, without any doubt!
