If you are looking for a list featuring the strongest devils in Chainsaw Man, you’ve come to the right page as I’ll be showing all who are the most powerful devils in the world of Chainsaw Man!
The popularity of Chainsaw Man is undoubtedly well deserved. Now, with an upcoming anime adaptation coming from the hands of Mappa, one of the most popular anime studios, the hype and expectations are really high. Now, at this point, many people have already read the manga or are going through it, enjoying what the title has to offer, including things such as an original premise, incredible fights, beautiful art, and a fantastic cast of characters.
And among those characters, we can find a great variety of devils, one of the main aspects of the series. With most of them being villains, all devils share different levels of strength. Have you ever wondered what devils are the strongest in the series? Well, I am here to answer that question for you! The first thing to cover is how “fear” plays an important part in the whole series, so that word will be mentioned quite often throughout this article. With that being said, let’s start with the first devil on this list – The Future Devil!
The Strongest Devils in Chainsaw Man (2022)
17. Future Devil
As mentioned earlier, a devil’s power is defined by the fear its concept causes in people. The fear for the future is one of the most common fears present in society, as one can rapidly grow anxious when thinking about what tomorrow might bring.
Even then, The Future Devil is one of the series’s most enigmatic characters since we, as readers, don’t have an exact idea of its powers. However, we can see it performing different contracts with some devil hunters, including Aki, so we can pretty much guess what he’s capable of based on that. Sadly for the devil, it might not involve as much fighting prowess since the hunter organization was capable of capturing him.
16. Curse Devil
Similarly to the Future Devil, the actual powers of the Curse Devil are pretty much unknown, but, contrary to the previously mentioned devil, this one does possess some fighting capabilities, to the point of being considered a trump card by its contracted hunters, one that they would use only during dire situations that require it since it comes with an incredible cost.
And Aki is included amongst them, as he was capable of cursing his enemies using a sword granted by the Curse Devil, which would allow him to summon him in combat and use its amazing strength to crush anyone afflicted by the curse.
15. Blood Devil
The Blood Devil, also known as the charismatic Power, is one of the series’s main characters and clearly one devil to fear. She’s got some of the standard powers you can find in most devils, including enhanced strength and inhuman speed, and in her case, she’s got a fantastic sense of smell.
As the name implies, she’s capable of more than that! As the Blood Devil, she can fully control her own blood, shape it into many different forms and harden it to turn it into dangerous weapons, with spears and hammers being her usual choice of weapons. She’s also capable of controlling blood from other beings as long as she’s in direct contact with them, and by drinking blood (especially blood from stronger beings than her), she can boost her powers and physical capabilities.
14. Eternity Devil
Some people fear the concept of eternity, and Eternity Devil is pretty much the corporeal incarnation of this fear. Under normal circumstances, this one devil has the potential to become one of the strongest devils in Chainsaw Man, if not the strongest. But it has one crucial weakness that dramatically reduces its potential.
Eternity Devil can be described as an ever-growing lump of flesh made from different body parts, from arms to eyes and many more. Initially, the devil itself seems to be relatively weak, but as Denji and the others quickly understand, he’s not to mess around.
This lump of flesh can regenerate infinitely and shape itself in any way it wants, but it does feel pain, and as showcased in the series, pain can be more than enough to cause it to surrender and wish for death. Pretty ironic considering that this one devil entails the concept of immortality! But hey, I agree that a life of eternity, even more in the grasp of inconsiderable pain, might not be worth it!
13. Cosmos Devil
The Cosmos Devil is a pretty unique concept, as it revolves around the fear of the universe itself and that which is unknown. Her powers can be relatively simple to describe as well, but at the same time, understanding their true potential can be difficult to assess.
For instance, the Cosmos Devil holds within herself the knowledge of everything that resides in the cosmos, thus, making her completely omniscient. This knowledge, however, seems to be too much to bear. Therefore, she’s in a constant state of mental deficiency where she cannot think. This side-effect of her powers can also be placed on other people, as she grants the same knowledge she bears, causing the same side-effect in others.
12. Katana Devil
The Katana Devil was a hybrid combination between man and devil, similar to Denji, the main character of the series. It was considerably strong and one of the main antagonists you could find throughout the title.
It’s essential to cover this because hybrids have the particular ability to regenerate when they consume blood, making them nearly immortal. In the case of the Katana Devil, its one big strength was its fighting prowess and experience, as he was, at the time, much stronger than Denji. He was also capable of performing a quick attack with his katana, much faster than one could react. Overall, one of the very definitions of raw power you will find in this list is Katana Man, one of the strongest devils in Chainsaw Man series!
11. Crossbow Devil
Crossbow Devil, also known as Quanxi, is another hybrid case, enjoying immortality as long as certain conditions are met, including drinking blood or triggering her transformation action.
She has the title of The First Devil Hunter and is experienced in both hand-to-hand combat and long-range combat, where she excels once she transforms. As the name implies, she can transform into a devil that uses crossbows, which shoot excessively strong bolts, as they can pierce their targets and create big holes along their way.
But what makes her so scary is that she’s nearly unkillable and incredibly experienced in combat, as she has years and years of experience.
10. Angel Devil
This particular devil can be terrifying since it has multiple abilities, some of which can be described as one-shot skills that can immediately defeat anyone they attack.
Firstly, the Angel Devil can absorb humans’ life through its touch, and if he does it long enough, they will die peacefully. The energy the devil absorbs then turns into its power, and the more life it uses to manifest its abilities, the stronger the ability will be.
One of his unique skills is a sword formed by spending 100 years worth of a lifetime, turning it into a sword that can kill anyone who is sliced by it. Sadly, we couldn’t truly witness its power throughout the series, but as mentioned earlier, it has the potential to be the scariest devil on the list!
9. Bomb Devil
The cute and charismatic Bomb Devil, aka Reze, is one of the most popular in the series, and considering how it was introduced, this is not a big surprise.
Like many other hybrid devils, the Bomb Devil enjoys a nearly-immortal state. She also presented the fear of bombs, making it a pretty aggressive concept, as she has many abilities at her disposal, many of them involving explosions.
She can move very fast thanks to the impulse she gets from exploding, and she can even turn into a torpedo to reach incredible speeds. The worst thing about her is that her own explosion can’t even harm her as she is highly durable. She is one tough devil who held her ground against many characters of the series, including Denji himself.
8. Punishment Devil
Not much is known about the Punishment Devil besides that it was one of the devils Makima used to deal with the Gun Devil.
It is theorized that the Punishment Devil comes with considerable fighting capabilities and the standard powers you can find in most devils. But it likely has other abilities as well, considering its title. If it was enough to cause damage to the legendary Gun Devil, we have to put it high on the list!
7. Doll Devil
This devil, although not strong on its own, can prove to be a dangerous threat. Its powers were shown through a contact it made with Santa Claus, an international assassin who came to assassinate Denji.
The main power showcased in the series is the ability to create dolls through touch, and like a disease, it is capable of spreading until an army of dolls is created. These dolls become stronger than your regular human and can turn their arms into blades to attack their enemies.
The entity known as the Doll Devil and the human it is contracted with, Santa Claus, is also immortal in a unique way since it can transfer its mind to any of the dolls, thus, making it pretty much impossible to defeat under normal circumstances.
6. Hell Devil
As mentioned many times in this article, fear plays an important role in the strength of a devil since their concept’s power is decided by how much fear it inflicts in the heart of people. Of course, the fear of hell is one of the most palpable fears present in the world, making the Hell Devil a considerable threat and one of the strongest devils in Chainsaw Man.
Regretfully, not much of this devil was shown in the series, besides the fact that it was one of the trump cards used to finally defeat Makima, the series’s main antagonist. Considering how strong Makima is, it definitely puts it in a high place, even more considering that one of its abilities is the chance to take entities to hell.
5. War Devil
The War Devil is part of a group of devils known as The Four Horsemen, which include the War Devil, the Death Devil, the Hunger Devil, and the Control Devil. Although the story involving the War Devil is still in development, as part of The Four Horsemen, it is implied that they can hurt devils that are members of The Primal Fears, which we will cover later in this article.
Apparently, its ability involves turning beings the devil owns into powerful weapons. Since the War Devil’s goal is to fight the Chainsaw Devil, it obviously has enough potential to be the strongest. We can but expect to see more development about it!
4. Gun Devil
Now we talk about the legendary Gun Devil! When you think about it, the fear of guns is no doubt more present in the world than the fear of other things, and in the world of Chainsaw Man, guns were very present since they were used to fight devils, which caused them to be more accessible. Thus, people misused them to commit crimes.
With media coverage about guns becoming more common, the fear of guns only grew stronger until the Gun Devil appeared, killing over 1.2 million people worldwide in only five minutes. This showcases how strong the Gun Devil actually is.
Afterward, a fraction of the Gun Devil was summoned to fight Makima, and she had to use several of her servants to fight it, including one of the main characters of the series, Aki, and the Punishment Devil.
3. Control Devil
The Control Devil, also known as Makima, one of its many reincarnations, is also a member of The Four Horsemen and possibly the strongest one, as she embodies the fear of being controlled.
Showcased many times throughout the series, Makima can be manipulative, which goes along with her powers, allowing her to control anyone she considers inferior to her. This affects not only humans but devils as well, being capable of using their powers. As a devil, she’s also capable of regenerating, causing her to be very close to being immortal.
She was also capable of hurting the Darkness Devil, one of The Primal Fears, which she even considered to be a nuisance.
2. Darkness Devil
Finally, we can talk about The Primal Fears. The Primal Fears are devils that cannot appear in the world of men since devils can only do so when they are killed in hell. The main reason they are so strong is that they are the concept of fears completely intrinsic to human nature, including the fear of darkness.
Although the appearance of the Darkness Devil was, without a doubt, short, he managed to suppress a wide range of characters, devil hunters and devils alike, through the simple movements of its hands, cutting through their bodies and even twisting their limbs into weird positions.
Although Makima managed to cause some damage, it wasn’t for free since Makima herself received some damage, and things would have gone sour if they hadn’t managed to escape.
1. Chainsaw Devil
Now, here’s where the idea of fear being the source of the power of a devil becomes interesting since the Chainsaw Devil itself is a pretty interesting premise. Generally speaking, one would believe that the Chainsaw Devil shouldn’t be as strong since it should represent the fear people have for chainsaws.
But the truth is that the Chainsaw Devil is strong because he’s feared by Devils throughout all of hell, mainly because of its power to devour other devils, completely erasing them from existence. When a devil is killed, it usually reincarnates when enough fear is accumulated towards its concept. But, when the Chainsaw Devil kills and consumes a devil, it erases its concept from people’s hearts, ultimately killing and erasing them from existence.
Thus, this is why it bears the title of “The Devil That Devils Fear the Most,” turning it into the strongest devil of them all.
Conclusion
The way power levels in this series are showcased is one of the most interesting you can find in the manga media. Just by reading this list, it’s easy to expect a lot more coming from the hands of its author, Tatsuki Fujimoto, as more conflicts between devils will undoubtedly be showcased, including the battle between the War Devil and the Chainsaw Devil.
Still, if you read the article, you might have a more solid idea of how strength is showcased throughout the series, making it easier to understand what is to come. And at the end of this article, you know who are the strongest devils in Chainsaw Man introduced so far!
