Does Levi die in Attack on Titan? Are you curious to know about Levi Ackerman’s fate in the story? If yes, you are on the right page, as we’ll discuss exactly what happens to humanity’s strongest soldier at the story’s conclusion!
One of the many things you get used to when watching Attack on Titan is that characters dying on screen isn’t uncommon and is something the story isn’t afraid to throw at you at any moment. From the start of the series, we’ve seen several characters meeting their untimely demise at the hands of the Titans or even other characters in the story.
We find members of the Survey Corps getting killed in action with each new Titan encounter, with the number of deaths not getting any lower as new threats loom over the horizon of the walls of Paradis Island.
Of all the characters introduced in the series, Levi Ackerman is perhaps one of the most reputable among them, as he is introduced as a seasoned fighter and Titan slayer with confirmed kills rumored to reach the 200s in number. Levi established himself as the strongest soldier within the Survey Corps and was the sole reason the Corps saw great success in their missions.
Despite all of Levi’s strength, he is still only a human and can only do so much when back in a corner against Titans or other humans. Despite every moment we find him ripping down Titans with ease, he is still prone to getting hurt himself and even suffering fatal injuries at a moment’s notice.
Does Levi Die Fighting Zeke’s Beast Titan?
Perhaps one of the most memorable Titans Levi had to fight against in the entire series is the Beast Titan, possessed by Zeke Yeager. The Beast Titan proved to be an extremely deadly enemy to the people of Paradis Island as it launched large-scale attacks while also being able to control other Titans with its screams.
Despite Zeke’s Beast Titan being one of the strongest Titans, Levi was able to beat Zeke in the two instances they fought one another, with the first time getting close to landing a killing blow. However, the second time they clashed left Levi in a critically injured state.
The first encounter had Levi fight the Beast Titan in a bloody state but not enough to shadow his abilities, making him incredibly dangerous to Zeke the moment he closed in on him.
Their second encounter was less favorable, however, as Levi was forced to take down 30 of his former allies, who were turned into Titans by Zeke, before he chased after and fought a runaway Zeke in the Titan Forest.
Despite Zeke’s attempts to defend himself against Levi, he was still able to beat him through the newly developed Thunder Spears, which allowed him to pierce his hardened nape with the resulting damage and explosion, leaving Zeke heavily injured and unable to recover.
Despite his victory over Zeke and his attempts to subdue him, Zeke turned Levi’s plans of keeping him at bay by pulling the pin that was one of the Thunder Spears. The resulting explosion resulted in both characters getting caught in the blast point blank and directly in front of death’s door.
Is Levi Ackerman Dead in Attack on Titan?
After the Thunder Spear explosion caused by Zeke in their last encounter, Levi was heavily injured, with several parts of his body sustaining heavy injuries and burn marks resulting from the blast.
Levi was almost near to being dead when he was first found but recovered a little bit after his body was discovered and given priority treatment by Hange Zoe.
For a long time after this, Levi fell into a coma, with his face having heavy scarring and losing two fingers in his right hand due to the explosion. He was able to awaken from his coma thanks to the message sent out by Eren to all Subjects of Ymir after acquiring the Founding Titan’s power.
What Happens to Levi Ackerman at the End?
Toward the end of Attack on Titan, Levi participates in the final battle to stop Eren despite his injuries. His comrades commented on his ability to fight despite his lack of fingers in his right hand.
However, Levi proved to be a valuable member in this effort, as he was capable of handing out commands to other members of the Survey Corps on what they should do and the evasive maneuvers they should take. He would later prove vital in Mikasa’s resolve to kill Eren herself by using a Thunder Spear to launch her into Eren’s Titan’s mouth, where she dealt the ultimate blow.
It was also at this moment that Levi was able to finally kill Zeke and carry out Commander Erwin’s final order to kill him before his death much earlier on.
The events that happened in Levi’s life after this had him living out using a wheelchair. Instead of returning to Paradis Island, Levi takes up residence in Marley, where Gabi and Falco attend and look after him.
Who Does Levi Ackerman End Up With?
For Levi’s entire life, survival and eradicating the Titans were the only things on his mind. Many see Levi to be extremely unapproachable and will immediately have a cold impression of him. His upbringing in the Underground City didn’t help with this and only reinforced his personality.
As mentioned earlier, following the battle against Eren to save the world, Levi finds himself using a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Despite his circumstances, he never once showed any signs of regret about what led to his current state.
It was improbable that Levi ended up marrying anyone at this point, as there was no mention of it in the story, nor was it implied. For most of Levi’s life, he never really saw any of his female allies as potential partners but instead harbored a deep level of care and respect, as shown in his interactions with his female comrades.
We can gladly assume that despite not marrying anyone in the end, Levi was able to live a happy and peaceful life, having been affirmed that all the sacrifices his fallen comrades made could bear the results they all were hoping for.
