And it’s not just 2022, as we are almost a month into 2023, and it looks like all eyes will be on Gege Akutami this year, as he has promised some wild surprises in the story.
Despite the massive success of Jujutsu Kaisen, it was indeed a surprise to see it beat juggernauts like One Piece in overall manga sales, despite having a much lesser number of manga volumes than the latter. But with each new volume release, the sales figures just keep on going up. So, it’s no surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen became the highest-earning franchise in 2022.

It’s so insane that Jujutsu Kaisen, with just one-fifth of One Piece’s total manga volumes, managed to beat it by a considerable margin.

Even though Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga was very popular, it wasn’t popular worldwide when it began serialization. It wasn’t until the series got an anime adaptation that otakus from around the world paid attention to the title.
