HMD Global’s flagship smartphone, Nokia 9, just got certified again, this time by US certification FCC. The rumored handset was previously certified by EU Union and was spotted multiple times on benchmark listings including Geekbench and AnTuTu where the phone was revealed to have different storage variants. Nokia 9 has also seen a fair share of leaks in the past, but the FCC-certified Nokia 9 just confirmed some of the most anticipated specs of the phone.
According to the FCC report spotted yet again by NokiaPowerUser, FCC-certified Nokia 9 reveals the phone will sport a 5.3-inch display screen, corroborating with earlier rumors and leaks. Nokia 9 will be a Dual-SIM smartphone and will support a microSD card. These specifications were listed for the Nokia 9 model ‘TA-1004’; we still don’t know what features the other models might pack. Other details that were made known about the FCC-certified Nokia 9 was that it will have support for GSM and CDMA, as well as NFC and Bluetooth 4.2.
Another important detail noted this US certification is that the Finnish company, HMD Global plans to have a stateside launch of the Nokia 9 unlike that of the Nokia 3, 5 and 6.
We still don’t know whether the rest of the details of specs that were known by previous rumors are true but here’s a round-up of them in case you missed it:
The FCC-certified Nokia 9 will measure 151.55 mm x 73.7 mm, sport a 5.3-inch QHD display. This flagship smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor chip and Adreno 540 processor as its GPU. The Nokia 9 has been spotted in three storage and SIM support variants under different model names – 4 GB, 6 GB and 8 GB RAMs, all paired with a 64 GB internal storage. The TA-1004 model is now confirmed with Dual-SIM support whereas the TA-102 is suggested to have single SIM card support.
The smartphone will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It will feature a vertically placed dual camera setup at the back (13 MP) and a front-facing camera with the same megapixel quality. Nokia 9 is also rumored to pack a 3800mAh battery and have Quick Charge 4.0 support. Moreover, the FCC-certified Nokia 9 will also be weather proof (IP68 Water and Dust Resistant).
HMD Global’s Nokia 9 earlier cleared both EA Union and Bluetooth certifications in the last few weeks and with it now passing the US based FCC certification, the confirmation of the smartphone is pretty much set in stone. With the specs it is suggested to come with, we can see Nokia 9 giving a rough time to smartphones like the OnePlus 5, Samsung Galaxy S8 and even the iPhone 8.
