OnePlus 5 is officially coming this summer, the new reports suggest. Earlier, the smartphone was listed on the Oppomart website suggesting that the smartphone will launch in June 2017, and the news confirms it.
The news of the flagship smartphone is doing some rounds on the Internet with leaks and reports releasing on various websites, but now we have confirmation that the smartphone will launch this Summer as reported by The Verge. We also now know why the smartphone is named OnePlus 5 instead of OnePlus 4. The smartphone is named after the number 5 jersey of former NBA player Robert Horry, who is also liked by several OnePlus employees as well.
Although the launch date has been revealed, we still don’t have any official news regarding the specs of the device. However, looking at the specs of the previous devices, we can assume that the flagship device is likely going to have specifications on par with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 as well as some other recently released smartphones.
The device reportedly has a 5.5-inch quad HD screen (2560×1440 pixels) with a 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 quad-core processor. It will run on Oxygen OS based on Android N and will come with 6GB of RAM with 64GB and 128GB variant.
Although, the earlier rumors suggested the OnePlus 5 will sport a 23-megapixel camera, the recent reports suggests that it will come with 12-megapixel dual rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. There are still a lot of rumors regarding the display, its design as well as other features, but nothing’s been confirmed as of yet.
Since its predecessors, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were one of the best smartphones released last year, we’re hoping that OnePlus 5 is going to be better than them and bring new and awesome features.
