If you’ve just finished watching the first episode of Oshi no Ko anime, you must be curious to know exactly who is Aqua and Ruby’s father and whether he is responsible for what happened to Ai Hoshino!
The plot twist at the end of the first episode was insane; I never even saw it coming. At first, it seemed like the story would be about a teen idol who gave birth to twins, juggling her career while caring for her kids and ensuring that the truth of her being a mom doesn’t get out in the world.
But that wasn’t the case; the first episode’s ending completely destroyed all of my expectations. Ai Hoshino, the character I thought would be the show’s main character, was stabbed and killed.
This event completely changes the future for Ai’s two children, Aqua and Ruby, as they will now have to live without their mother, and their idol, who they loved so much. After Ai’s death, Aqua also contemplates ending his life, but he decides against that.
He discovers that since Ai and the two siblings recently moved into a new house, no one could have that address apart from Ai’s manager and his wife. He concludes that the person who was responsible for leaking the address of the house to the stalker has to be his father.
And so, Aquamarine Hoshino has decided that he won’t end his life. Rather he will find who his father is and take revenge with his own two hands.
The question arises then, who exactly is Aqua and Ruby’s father in Oshi no Ko? Is that information revealed in the story? The answer is yes! However, starting from this point, we are entering spoiler territory, so if you’d like to not know anything about the upcoming arcs, you shouldn’t read any further.
But as you want to know who the twin’s father is, you don’t really care about the spoiler warning, right? So, let’s not waste more time and get right into the article!
Who is Aqua and Ruby’s Father?
Earlier in the story, when Aqua and Ruby lived a happy life with Ai Hoshino, it didn’t matter to them or anyone who their father was.
But as we saw in the first episode, the twins did discuss about him, a conversation that Ai overhears and gets in touch with him, asking him to at least meet their kids once.
It’s understandable that Ai didn’t reveal who the father was because Ai was just 16 years old when she gave birth to the twins, so revealing who the father was could also have repercussions for her career.
So, if you are wondering if we ever find out who is the father of Aqua and Ruby Hoshino, then the answer is yes, we do find out about him!
In short, the name of the twin’s father is Hikaru Kamiki, and he is also a part of the entertainment industry, as Aqua deduces after Ai’s death.
However, it will be long before he appears in the anime. Hikaru Kamiki debuted in chapter 72 of the Oshi no Ko manga, so it won’t be till season 2’s finale or season 3 of the anime before we see his onscreen debut.
However, it was not a proper debut because we saw him visiting Ai Hoshino’s grave without his face being revealed. It was then revealed in chapter 96 that Hikaru Kamiki was a 15-year-old middle school student during Ai Hoshino’s pregnancy.
It wasn’t until chapter 109 that he finally made a proper debut in the manga. His face is revealed, he is given adequate screen time in this chapter, and he is shown committing another murder!
The chapter immediately establishes him as the antagonist. If you think that killing Ai Hoshino was the only evil thing he did, then you’ve got it all wrong!
Hikaru Kamiki is a very attractive man, and he bears a striking resemblance to his son, Aqua. However, his personality couldn’t be more different than Aqua’s.
He is a sadistic man who enjoys killing people and watching life fade from their eyes. Most of his targets are females, especially female actresses. His first proper appearance in the manga was when he murdered a popular actress in a secluded spot!
And committing murders isn’t the only thing he has done. He also has another child, apart from Aqua and Ruby, whom he fathered when he was just 11 years old. Yes, you read that right. When he was an 11-year-old, he had an affair with another married actress, an adult, and ended up impregnating her.
Aqua even meets his half-brother halfway through the story.
Since he hasn’t appeared much in the story, we have no idea how many crimes he has committed. Considering that he has a sadistic nature and killing people gives him joy, I will go out on a limb and say that the list of his victims might be long.
At the current point in the story in the manga, Aqua has already figured out who his father is; he knows Hikaru Kamiki is his father, and his plans are set in motion.
He has taken the first steps to rise through the entertainment industry and make it possible for him to take down Hikaru once and for all and take revenge on him for killing Ai Hoshino.
We only have to wait and see what this chain of events will lead to and how the story of Aqua and Hikaru will play out!
