Tanjiro Kamado is one of the most influential anime characters at the moment, so it’s only natural that you’d want to know who he ends up with. In this article, we will take a look at who does Tanjiro marry at the end of the Demon Slayer series!
For a story around the caliber of Demon Slayer, romance is rarely the driving force and is never at the forefront of action-packed scenes between Demon Slayers and the demons. The series offers a broad and diverse cast that we can familiarize ourselves with as they offer up deep characters and colorful backgrounds, setting them apart from one another.
Amidst all the demon-slaying missions and harsh training, we find Tanjiro undergoing and overcoming hardships repeatedly; we are still greeted with light-hearted moments and tidbits of romance, especially with the antics involving Zenitsu and his feelings towards Nezuko.
Putting the two aside, Tanjiro also has his share of romance throughout the story, albeit very subtle, even towards the end of the series.
Who Does Tanjiro Like?
Tanjiro Kamado, in the entirety of the story, is generally seen as a likable character by those around him. This is thanks to his general calm and polite demeanor to everyone he meets, which can even extend to the likes of demons as he would show them mercy and understanding, contrary to many Demon Slayers who regard them as monsters.
While it was never explicitly stated that he likes her, Tanjiro has shared a strong relationship with Kanao Tsuyuri since they first met.
Despite the two initially having a rough start, they slowly started to become acquainted with one another, especially during Tanjiro’s time at the Butterfly Mansion, where he, along with Zenitsu and Inosuke, was recovering and training.
Because of Tanjiro’s general kind-hearted nature, it can be difficult to accurately gauge how much he liked Kanao before marrying her. Their interactions can be interpreted as purely platonic as he treats her the same way he treats everyone he meets.
Who Does Tanjiro Marry in Demon Slayer? Who is Tanjiro’s Wife?
By the time the Demon Slayer reaches its end, we find out that Tanjiro eventually ends up marrying Kanao and continuing the Kamado household up to the modern day. The details of the romance between the two were never really explored, as mentioned earlier, but their relationship can easily be seen in a positive light.
The relationship between Kanao and Tanjiro went from a somewhat awkward and rough start to a genuine one where both cared for each other’s safety.
We can easily guess that the two began to share a close relationship during Tanjiro’s recovery following the final battle against Muzan, where he received treatment after receiving life-threatening injuries.
In the last chapter, we see the couple’s great-great-grandchildren, with Kanata Kamado sharing a similar appearance and personality to Kanao and Sumihiko Kamada, almost bearing an exact look to Tanjiro with a similar personality and quirks as his great-great-grandfather.
Does Kanao Like Tanjiro?
Between Kanao and Tanjiro, it can be inferred that the two share mutual feelings for each other. Despite Kanao being initially monotonous and distant from Tanjiro during their first meeting, she slowly started to familiarize herself with him and even had cute moments with him.
The defining moment where the relationship between Kanao and Tanjiro began to take a positive turn was during the latter’s stay at the Butterfly Mansion. One example was Tanjiro placing a cup of tea on Kanao’s head instead of splashing it on her, which she had done to him several times before.
The next prominent moment is when Tanjro encourages Kanao to follow her heart and make her own decisions rather than relying on a coin flip.
Following Tanjiro and his friend’s departure, it has been implied that Kanao developed a crush on Tanjiro. We find her visibly shocked and happy upon seeing Tanjiro waking up following the battle in the Entertainment District and was found calling his name during her battle against Muzan as the only remaining survivor before getting saved by Tanjiro himself.
Her feelings towards Tanjiro would eventually prove to be a vital key in restoring his humanity, after Tanjiro transformed into the Demon King, as she was willing to put herself at risk to administer the cure for demons.
The feelings the two share for one another are eventually subtly affirmed during Tanjiro’s return to his human form, and the two share a smile.
