Otakus around the world have been looking forward to KonoSuba season 3, and we finally have some good news. The third season of the uber-popular anime series is officially confirmed and is all set to release soon. But what exactly is the KonoSuba season 3 release date? If you’re here to find that out, keep reading as we’ll discuss everything we know about the third season of KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!!
Based on Natsume Akatuski’s light novel series, the first season of KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World began with a banger. After all, the anime didn’t just jump through popularity charts but was also liked by fans and critics alike. It’s one of those shows that no one dislikes!
While this success was somewhat expected as the isekai anime series have a record of becoming instant hits, KonoSuba had something more than ‘luck’ going for it.
The series begins like a regular isekai where a NEET named Kazuma Satou dies and wakes up to meet an afterlife goddess named Aqua, who offers him a choice between going to paradise or getting reincarnated into an RPG-style world where he’d have to stay until the Demon King is defeated.
However, the anime’s bland tone suddenly changed as Aqua turned around and started laughing at Kazuma’s embarrassing manner of death.
This led a flustered Kazuma to choose the RPG-style world, and as the afterlife protocol goes, Aqua promised him an object of his choice for his journey to defeat the Demon King.
But of all the powerful weapons he could’ve chosen, Kazuma surprisingly picked Aqua to get back at her for laughing at him. Of course, it was this precise moment that had all of us hooked on the series.
However, the comedy only began when Kazuma learned he was stuck in his new world with a useless goddess, as Aqua had zero combat skills. Also, the RPG-style world didn’t mean they wouldn’t need jobs or pay taxes.
Considering all this, it’s hardly surprising that Studio Deen instantly renewed KonoSuba for a season 2. Later, studio J.C. Staff greenlit the series for a movie titled “KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson,” which aired in 2019.
While the pandemic slightly dampened the series’ growing hype, it didn’t stop fans from demanding another season. And so, the official Twitter account of KonoSuba anime set the internet ablaze by declaring not just a Season 3 but also a spin-off anime series.
Although it’s announced that another season is under production, there’s a question that every fan wants to know the answer to – when does KonoSuba season 3 come out – and I’ll answer that in this article!
KonoSuba Season 3 Release Date:
Although we don’t have a confirmed release date for the upcoming season, it’s officially announced that KonoSuba season 3 will release in 2024!
But that’s the only thing we know, as the producers haven’t announced exactly when in 2024 the anime will premiere. We don’t know if it will be in the Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2024, but as the year ends, we’ll have more solid information on the anime’s release date.
A few sources were speculating that the anime would get delayed till early next year as the previous seasons of KonoSuba anime aired in the first half of their respective years and that speculation turned out to be true.
However, the release window can change as the third season will be helmed by Studio Drive instead of Studio Deen, which was responsible for the first two seasons.
Another reason to suspect a delay in the release of season 3 of KonoSuba is that there’s no official trailer released for the upcoming season so far.
What to Expect From Season 3 of KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World?
So far, Kazuma and Aqua have adjusted pretty well to their new world. Also, they’re not particularly pursuing the Demon King, but they keep encountering his knights.
And so, Kazuma is unknowingly headed toward defeating the Demon King.
While the previous two seasons covered the first four light novel volumes. The 2019 movie ‘God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson’ covered the fifth light novel.
So we can expect KonoSuba season 3 to pick the story from the 6th light novel volume titled, “Princess of Six Flowers.” If that happens, the anime will begin with Kazuma wishing to have an archetype little sister as part of his adventure party.
But his wish will come true, as he’ll receive an invitation to the royal banquet where he will meet Princess Iris. However, Iris will want to keep Kazuma around her castle, but rumors of a “Righteous Thief” will make Kazuma take matters into his own hands.
As the previous seasons adapted two light novel volumes each, we can expect the third season to also go the same route. We’ll probably see the 7th light novel volume too in the third season, titled “110-million Bride,” where Darkness will depart while leaving a mysterious letter behind.
That said, the first and second seasons of KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World consisted of 10 episodes each. So, we anticipate that KonoSuba season 3 will likely contain 10 episodes.
But all of these are mere assumptions, as Studio Drive has yet to make official announcements regarding the anime’s content and episodes and also reveal a trailer.
That said, we do know who will be joining the cast and crew for the upcoming season.
KonoSuba Season 3 Cast & Crew Details:
According to the KonoSuba official website, most of the cast and crew members from the previous seasons will be reprising their roles for the third season too.
Accordingly, the previous director Takaomi Kanasaki is returning as the general director. However, Yujiro Abe will be the new chief director for the third season.
But it seems this will only bring a pleasant change as Yujiro Abe has worked on diverse series such as Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, Great Pretender, Detective Conan, Super Club, and Boruto. Besides, he was also part of the spin-off anime “KonoSuba: An Explosion on this Wonderful World,” and the anime’s quality was as good as the previous seasons.
Makoto Uezu and Koichi Kikuta will return to their respective roles as the series composer and character designer.
The previous cast is also returning, so we’ll be seeing:
- Sora Amamiya as Aqua
- Jun Fukushima as Kazuma Satou
- Ai Kayano as Darkness
- Rie Takahashi as Megumin
There will be an additional cast to voice the new characters introduced in the series, so we can expect Studio Drive to make further announcements soon.
Until then, you can keep yourself entertained by either rewatching the anime or reading KonoSuba manga & light novels. But if you’re interested in doing the reading, you might want to know if the series is complete.
Is KonoSuba Manga & Light Novel Finished?
The original KonoSuba light novel series is finished, with a total of 17 light novel volumes published. The anime and movie have covered the first five volumes, so you can start reading the LN series from the 6th novel.
But the original manga is still ongoing and currently consists of 16 volumes. So far, the anime and the movie cover up to the manga chapter 54, so you can start reading the manga from the 55th chapter from the 10th manga volume.
That said, the KonoSuba series is so popular that it was picked for several spin-offs.
Among these spin-offs, the light novel series, “KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!” holds a special status as it was created by the original author Natsume Akatsuki and illustrator Kurone Mishima. But this novel is complete and contains five light novel volumes, including two bonus volumes.
This light novel also has a complete manga by illustrator Kasumi Morino, and an anime adaptation too.
Natsume also wrote another spin-off titled “Consulting with the Masked Devil!” which contains just one light novel volume of 5 chapters. However, its manga adaptation is by Suzume Somemiya and consists of 2 tankÅbon volumes.
In contrast, the spin-off light novel series “KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! Extra Attention to that Wonderful Fool” is written by Hirukuma and illustrated by Yuki Hagure. It’s still ongoing and currently contains 7 volumes. But two of its volumes were also adapted into manga illustrations by Tamako Buta.
Conclusion
KonoSuba Season 3 is greenlit, and we’re looking forward to its release in 2024. With no official announcements made regarding the exact release date, there’s not much to share at this point.
But we can expect exquisite animation as the anime will be created by the same staff who worked on the spin-off anime “KonoSuba: An Explosion on this Wonderful World!”
I hope this article answers all your queries regarding the KonoSuba season 3 release date. As more information about the upcoming season is revealed, I’ll update this article so you know exactly when you’ll get to see your favorite characters back in action!
