Black Clover is one of the most popular manga titles in the world right now, and since the anime is on break, you might be looking to get started with the manga. In this article, we will look at how many volumes of Black Clover there are to help you with your manga reading journey!
The field of manga is filled with shonen titles. We all manga enthusiasts have accepted this, mainly because of how popular shonen manga titles are. They can not only involve several sub-genres, but they tend to be good enough to draw a considerable amount of attention, mainly because of their quality. Even though the genre is primarily aimed at young men, it can be enjoyed by all genres and ages.
There have been many cases where a shonen series suddenly rises in popularity, becoming one of the representatives of the genre. It happened with many legendary titles over the years, like One Piece, which has been serialized for over two decades now. In the case of Black Clover, however, the series has been serialized for over 5 years and is still ongoing.
It also gained enough popularity to receive its anime adaptation, which, as happens with many manga titles that become popular, didn’t manage to achieve the full potential of the manga.
Those who decide to read the manga will have a lot of content to read! But how much content is that? How many Black Clover volumes are there exactly? Let’s talk about it before we talk about what Black Clover is all about and what makes it so good!

What is Black Clover Manga About?
Like many, many shonen titles, Black Clover does come with many tropes you can find in those series. For instance, the series primarily focuses on two sub-genres – adventure and fantasy. That being said, it enjoys tons of action, character development, excellent villains, and an incredible overall premise, relying on the idea of magic and wizardry. But what is the title all about, and why is it a popular manga series?
Black Clover’s plot focuses on its main character, Asta, alongside his childhood friend, Yuno, two orphans who dream of becoming the Wizard King.
Sadly, unlike Yuno, who appears to be very talented, Asta was born without mana, a very rare condition since everyone is born with mana, which allows using sorcery to an extent. Even this does not stop Asta, who has trained his body over the years to fulfill his dream and become Yuno’s rival, as they both promised to try their best so one of them would become the next Wizard King.
Now, in the world of Black Clover, talent is pretty much decided once you are born. As the element of magic or its overall ability is determined at birth, it is further solidified by the grimoire the wizard can summon. Yuno, as talented as he was in both mana and wind magic, received a four-leaf grimoire, rumored to be once held by the person who became the first Wizard King. It is also said that the fourth leaf in the four-leaf clover grimoire represents luck!
Asta, on the other hand, received a five-leaf grimoire. This unique grimoire allows him to summon a giant black sword, a sword he’s capable of wielding thanks to the incredible amount of physical training he underwent to one day stand at Yuno’s side in the race towards the seat of Wizard King. And it is said that inside the fifth leaf of the five-leaf clover grimoire, there resides a devil!
They both eventually join a squad and partake in different adventures as they learn more about the world of magic, and Asta learns more about his own unique grimoire and why he was born without mana.
Conclusion
Now, what makes Black Clover so special? Well, the manga series has a lot of content, so those who know nothing about it or are going from anime to manga have a lot of content to enjoy. Besides that, Black Clover is often referred to as one of the shonen titles by formula, as it does follow the general formula most shonen titles use to achieve success.
Even then, Black Clover is often referred to as a less-diluted general shonen title, as its pacing is much faster without compromising its quality, something that many shonen enthusiasts do appreciate.
So, now that you know how many volumes of Black Clover there are, nothing is stopping you from picking up the first manga volume and reading it from the very beginning!
