We are all waiting for the little yet not-so-little Asta to return with a bang. Black Clover season 5 has not been officially confirmed yet. However, it will probably be released in 2023 or maybe in 2024.
The last 4 seasons were a huge success, and shonen lovers found their favorite anime. Season 4 ended with the 170th episode. Till season 4, the anime has covered 272 chapters of the manga out of 330+ chapters. When season 4 ended, a few manga chapters were left to cover as the anime had almost caught up with the source material. So, I think that ending the anime and taking a break was the perfect decision instead of bombarding fans with low-quality filler content.
Fans were unsure about the release of season 5 of Black Clover, but there’s no doubt in my mind that it will return. There is a Black Clover movie titled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King set to release on June 16, 2023, so we will get some good news after the movie is released.
There is a pretty good chance that the Black Clover season 5 release date would be announced when the movie is out because by then, the manga would have a ton of chapters to be adapted, so there won’t be any need to take a break.
Black Clover Season 5 Release Date Announced?
Unfortunately, there is no news regarding the return of Black Clover anime, neither from the manga author, Yūki Tabata nor from the studio behind the anime adaptation.
But, as I said, it will return. There’s no way that the creators of Black Clover anime will let it just sit there while there is so much content left to be given an anime adaptation. Even if the manga isn’t finished by the time the anime returns, we can be sure that we will at least see the completion of the “Spade Kingdom arc” in anime.
A total of 10 Black Clover arcs have been adapted in the anime, and the 10th arc still hasn’t been completely adapted. Only 11 chapters of the “Spade Kingdom Raid Arc” have been covered in the anime. The arc starts from the manga chapter 261 and ends with manga chapter 331.
The ongoing manga has ignited the fans’ curiosity as it has already been a year after season 4 ended. But it might be some time before we see Black Clover anime return in all its glory.
However, you won’t have to wait long to see your favorite characters back in action because Asta and co. are all set to return on June 16, 2023, in the movie Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King!
So, until we get a confirmed release date for Black Clover season 5, we can just watch the movie and rewatch all the anime episodes from the start to the end. Hopefully, when that’s done, we’ll have a confirmed release date for new episodes.
What Is Black Clover Anime All About?
Black Clover is about a boy, Asta, who chooses never to give up, no matter what. His journey was exceptional because he was born without any superlative power. Where everyone in the world was born with mana, i.e., magic power, he had nothing. Being powerless greatly hindered his dream of being the next Wizard King because you need to wield magic to earn that title.
However, he didn’t let the fact that he didn’t have any magic hinder him. He started focusing on his physical training as he trained his body hard and got strong, unlike any other mages. And he just stayed focused on his goal, which was to become the Magic Emperor.
There’s also another character, Yuno, his friend and rival, who plays a significant role in making him enthusiastic enough to keep going. Yuno is a born prodigy who is exceptionally great in whatever he does. He has been blessed with tons of magic powers, which ignites Asta’s passion for being the best.
It is beautifully said that whatever one wishes for truly comes to fruition! The same goes for Asta; on the day everyone got their grimoires (magic books), Asta also got his!
Meanwhile, Yuno got a 4-leaf grimoire, said to be the best a person could get, as typically, people only get a 3-leaf grimoire. It’s said that luck resides in the 4th leaf of the clover, and considering how powerful Yuno is, it definitely makes sense.
And Asta’s grimoire was even more unique as it was a grimoire with a 5-leaf clover, something that no one knows anything about. But, it is later revealed that a demon resides within the 5th leaf of the clover, where the story begins.
This grimoire gives Asta the ability of anti-magic and allows him to summon swords that can cut through magic like nothing. Now, Asta, who was born without any magical powers, can now stand face-to-face with those who were born with magic and can fight him on an equal footing.
Through the 4 seasons, we saw how hard Asta trained himself, and ultimately he made everyone recognize him as a comrade and a capable Magic Knight. He earned the respect of all the Squad Captains and the current Wizard King himself.
What Happened in Season 4 of Black Clover?
In the previous season, we saw how powerful the devils could be because their human hosts could wipe out entire continents on their own.
Asta and Captain Yami faced off against one such devil host himself, a member of the Dark Triad who happens to be the strongest devil hosts, and they lose even after managing to put up a good fight. The Dark Triad has kidnapped Captain Yami and Captain William, and they plan to use them in a ceremony where they will open the gates of hell and welcome the strongest devil of them all, Lucifero, in the world of the living.
Apart from this, we even saw a flashback of Liebe, the devil residing within Asta’s grimoire, and how he is related to Asta.
Liebe was saved by Lichita when she finds him lying on the ground wounded. She brings him back to her house and treats him, even adopting him as her son and giving him his name, Liebe. But Lucifero discovered that a devil was in the world of the living, so he tried to take over his body. Lichita tried her best and managed to save Liebe, but she lost her life in the process.
And if it wasn’t clear enough from how similar Asta and Lichita look, Lichita is actually Asta’s mother. And by the end of the season, Liebe becomes Asta’s partner since they both have the same goal, take down Lucifero and foil the devil’s plan.
When Does Black Clover Season 5 Come Out?
Sadly, there is nothing much to share with you guys as not even a key art visual has been released. So, forget about finding out the Black Clover season 5 release date at this point.
However, we still don’t know if the Black Clover movie will have an original plot or if it will cover the remainder of the Spade Kingdom arc. If it covers canon content, we won’t have to wait long to see our favorite characters in action. But until the movie releases, or we at least get some news regarding it, we can only make predictions.
