In the line of work that a demon slayer has to follow as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, death isn’t a foreign concept to anyone involved in the matter. Characters dying in the story aren’t entirely new, as we also witness innocent bystanders becoming victims of demon attacks.
It isn’t uncommon to find demon slayers getting killed, especially considering how they put their lives on the line to take down dangerous demons who terrorize normal humans. Broken bones and injuries aren’t uncommon, as we see our main cast with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke regularly receiving treatment after facing strong demons.
In the Demon Slayer anime, among the trio of the new-gen demon slayers we are familiar with, Zenitsu is often looked down upon due to his cowardly nature and tendency to have his nerve get the better of him.
More often than not, we find him constantly talking about the risk involved with his job and undermining his abilities as a Demon Slayer in comparison to his peers as being significantly weaker than them.
Because of his cowardly disposition, Zenitsu often finds himself facing extremely deadly situations and scenarios where one mistake can instantly cost him his life. Early in the story, his encounter with one of the Lower Moons showcased how bad Zenitsu’s nerves can get the best of him even if his life is on the line.
So there’s nothing wrong with wondering whether Zenitsu’s fate is anything less than peaceful, given the line of work he pursues as a Demon Slayer and how awful his nerves can overshadow his abilities as one.

It not only serves as a reminder of your favorite anime series but also adds a touch of personality to your belongings.
Zenitsu’s Abilities and Strength as a Demon Slayer
Putting aside Zenitsu’s cowardly tendency, he is extremely strong as a fighter thanks to his swift speed and agility, resulting from his practicing the Thunder Breathing Style.
Although he can only perform just one for the Thunder Breathing Style and is unable to perform any other forms, he can circumvent this weakness with his extreme mastery over the first form. The deadly speed at which he moves gives him an edge over his opponents, who can barely keep up with him when he’s going all out!
His constant usage of the First Form of Thunder Breathing allowed it to become a deadly weapon for him which he improved upon further by making slight variations of the technique.
Each variation of the “Thunderclap and Flash” he could come up with allowed him some room for flexibility when fighting against certain demons.
What Happened to Zenitu Through the Story?
Ever since his appearance in the earlier chapters with Tanjiro Kamado and the Final Selection exam, Zenitsu has always been cowardly and fearful. His disposition hasn’t changed after meeting Tanjiro, and he continues his antics when he’s traveling with him.
Zenitsu’s nervous tendencies often put him in hilarious, if not dangerous, situations that always seem to threaten his life. This makes him assume the role of a comic relief character in many situations as he is either fearful of what will happen or complaining about the predicament he is in.
Initially, he was shown only capable of fighting against demons while falling asleep, which is usually caused by his emotions reaching a breakpoint. While asleep, he can unconsciously become an extremely dangerous fighter that can quickly dispose of a demon with a single step and motion of his sword.
One of the most dangerous situations Zenitsu found himself in was during a battle with one of Muzan’s Upper Moons, Kaigaiku, who used to be a demon slayer and a fellow student he trained with under Jigoro Kuwajima. Zenitsu shared a deep respect towards Kaigaku despite the latter’s lack of it and constant belittling.
Their fight inside the Infinity Castle showcased both Thunder Breathing users’ abilities. Kaigaku had an upper edge with technique and form as he mastered all six forms of the Thunder Breathing Style. In contrast, Zenitsu was only limited to his single form.
Amidst all this, however, Zenitsu was still able to win the fight as he defeated Kaigaku through his original form of the Thunder Breathing, Honoikazuchi no Kami, the seventh form he created.
Despite falling, getting buried, and even getting a glimpse of his Gramps in the afterlife, Zenitsu could still live and even fight with his fellow demon slayers against Muzan. He even helped Inosuke fight off Tanjiro shortly after he was transformed into a demon.
This shows just how, despite all the odds thrown against him, Zenitsu is a strong demon slayer and a tough one to overcome, even for the strongest demons.
So, Does Zenitsu Die in Demon Slayer?
If you are talking about Zenitsu’s death in the manga or the final battle of demon slayers against Muzan, the answer is no! Zenitsu survives the battle and goes on to live his life in a peaceful world where he no longer has to fight any monsters.
Moreover, he finally gets to marry the person he loves the most, Nezuko Kamado, and they have children and even grandchildren. In the manga’s final chapter, we get a look at the descendants of all our main characters, including Yoshiteru Agatsuma and Toko Agatsuma, two of the great-grandchildren of Zenitsu and Nezuko.
So, no, Zenitsu doesn’t die even in the manga’s final battle. However, by the time the manga concludes, Zenitsu is long dead after marrying his love, having children with her, and living a long, happy life!
