Black Clover anime’s last episode aired 4 years ago, and all this time, fans have been waiting for the good news of its comeback. Every time a new anime was announced, we hoped it would be Black Clover, but it wasn’t!
However, it’s finally time to rejoice because the Black Clover anime sequel has officially entered production!
During Crunchyroll’s industry panel at the Anime Expo 2025, a new season of the Black Clover anime was officially announced. Although no release date was revealed, it won’t be long before the anime premieres!
The animation for the new season will be handled by Studio Pierrot, just as it was for the previous season, and it will be streamed on Crunchyroll once it begins airing.
Along with the announcement of the new season, a teaser trailer and a key visual were also revealed, giving us a glimpse of Asta in his “Devil Union” form.
Considering the manga series is in its final arc and nearing a conclusion, it was high time for the anime’s comeback. My guess is that the anime won’t be released until the manga is finished, so we still have to wait for some time.

What to Expect from the New Season of Black Clover?
The anime adaptation of Black Clover, based on the manga series by Yūki Tabata, began airing in October 2017 and continued till March 2021—a total of 170 episodes aired during the first run of the anime.
However, as the anime got a bit too close to the story in the manga, the makers decided to take a break to allow the manga to get ahead in terms of the storyline.
During the last episodes of the first season, we saw just how powerful the devils are and how strong their human hosts can be. The strongest of the human hosts are called the Dark Triad.
Most of the captains are no match for the Dark Triad, and even after putting up a good fight against them, they lose. The Dark Triad kidnaps Captain Yami and Captain Williams, as they need their magic to perform a ceremony that will open the gates of Hell and allow the strongest devil, Lucifero, to come to the world of the living.
This is the moment that we last saw in the anime, and it’s finally time to see what Asta and the rest will do now that Captain Yami’s been kidnapped.
However, we even saw a flashback that revealed Asta’s real mother, Lichita, and her relationship with Liebe, the devil residing in Asta’s grimoire.
The upcoming season of Black Clover anime will pick up right where it left off and will adapt the remainder of the Spade Kingdom arc before moving on to the final battle. We will see new characters introduced, Asta will go to a completely different kingdom, Yami’s family will be revealed, the shocking reveal of the final villain will happen, and an explosive final battle will take place that will decide the fate of the world.
