Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 240 Expectations:
The chapter begins with a girl in a desperate situation. She appears to be fleeing while venting her frustration about Kenjaku, the mastermind behind the culling game. She reflects on how Kenjaku initially gave the sorcerers of the past a second chance at life in the form of cursed objects, but now he wants to take it all away.
Suddenly, a jelly-like curse attacks her, and at the same moment, she notices Kenjaku sitting on a nearby tree. He comments that the lives of sorcerers are worthless to him, and all he needs from them is for his grand plan to proceed smoothly. Kenjaku further explains that he always knows the location of all the players because he has tagged reincarnated sorcerers with cursed objects and awakened sorcerers with cursed seals, leading to her demise.
Subsequently, Iori Hazenoki walks in, commenting on how he’s still talking to a girl who’s dead. In response, Kenjaku remarks that he doesn’t have enough friends, all the while offering Iori his friendship. Iori declines his offer. Their conversation takes a break as they both watch the battle between Gojo and Sukuna, witnessing Gojo’s defeat.
Kenjaku has cursed spirits positioned around himself and Shinjuku. These cursed spirits are aware of the total amount of cursed energy present in Shinjuku, allowing them to detect the departure of even one sorcerer. In addition, he shares vision with other cursed spirits. He must also be watchful for Maki and Mei Mei’s brother.
Following his explanation, he attacks Iori, completely overwhelming him with his cursed techniques. Iori, on the verge of death, inquires about Kenjaku’s plan. Kenjaku responds by stating that he intends to end the culling game by eliminating all the sorcerers. Afterward, he plans to execute a mass merger between the people of Japan and Tengen.
As Iori meets his end, a new challenger, Fumihiko Takaba, arrives. His solo arrival confuses Kenjaku, who initially believes that Mei Mei’s younger brother is responsible for Fumihiko’s sudden appearance. Kenjaku responds by launching an attack on Takaba.
Takaba manages to withstand the attack, leaving Kenjaku surprised. The chapter concludes with Takaba remarking that there’s nothing quite like the Joker stealing the spotlight, to which Kenjaku agrees.
We can anticipate that the next chapter will probably center on Kenjaku, highlighting his battle with Takaba, as Kenjaku has realized that Takaba is no ordinary opponent.
Conclusion
Leaving the battle between Sukuna and Yuji on a cliffhanger, the manga is currently focusing on Kenjaku and his actions to advance his grand plan. Will Takaba pose an obstacle to Kenjaku’s plan, or will he be easily dealt with? We’ll have to wait and see.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 240 will be released on October 29, 2023.
