Fire Force season 3 has been officially announced, but what is the release date? If you are here to find that out, keep reading as we talk about what we know about the upcoming season so far!
Originally published as a fantasy manga in 2015, Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force didn’t garner much attention for at least two years after its debut. But the series hit its tipping point in late 2017 when several characters started unveiling their true ambitions.
The ensuing plot twists were so unexpected that the manga started getting more and more sales within months. This led David Production Studio to pick Fire Force for an anime adaptation.
The anime’s first season achieved record ratings as it aired from July to December 2019. And so, David Production Studio immediately renewed Fire Force for season 2, which premiered from July to December 2020. As anticipated, the sequel gained immense viewership despite Covid-19.
Even so, the studio didn’t make any further announcements regarding a third season.
Because the anime adaptation became extremely popular, the manga sold over 10 million copies in 2021, with a total of 17.5 million copies in circulation by March 2022. Thus, manga drew even more fans to the anime, earning the series 7th position among the most-watched anime of 2021.
But the demand for a Fire Force season 3 only picked vigor when rumors about its renewal started spreading around in April 2022.
On May 16, 2022, David Production Studio put an end to all rumors by releasing a teaser visual to confirm the production of the third season of Fire Force anime. But now, fans are wondering about the release date for the upcoming season!
When is Fire Force Season 3 Coming Out?
Unfortunately, no further announcements were made in that regard. And so, we don’t know precisely when season 3 of Fire Force will come out.
But if we were to make an educated guess, considering it’s been three years since the second season aired, Fire Force season 3 should premiere sometime in 2024.
You see, season 1 and season 2 made their debut on July 6, 2019, and July 4, 2020, respectively. Furthermore, both seasons aired months after David Production Studio confirmed their production.
Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that Fire Force season 3 might come out in 2024, but as there’s been no update so far about the upcoming season, it’s possible that the release might get pushed to later.
How Many Episodes will be in Fire Force Season 3?
Since both season 1 and season 2 contained 24 episodes each, season 3 of Fire Force will likely have 24 episodes.
Now, Fire Force anime has been strictly following the original manga. However, the manga concluded with 304 chapters compiled in 34 volumes on February 22, 2022.
Season 1 was adapted from the first 90 chapters, i.e., manga volumes 1 to 11 (some portion), while season 2 covered up to chapter 174, i.e., manga volumes 11 to 20. So, by extension, Fire Force season 3 should cover at least manga volumes 21-30.
However, that would leave only three manga volumes from 31 to 33 for anime adaptation.
If David Production Studio decides to make Fire Force season 3 the final season of the series, keeping a 24-episode format will only mean condensing much of the content.
In this case, Fire Force season 4 will never come out.
But if the studio keeps up its regular pace for season 3, there will be enough material to create either a Fire Force movie-based finale or a Fire Force season 4, which will be pretty short; season 4 will likely not contain more than 12 episodes.
Will Fire Force Season 3 Be A Split-Cour Season?
I get that Fire Force season 3 will likely contain 24 episodes. So, it seems only plausible to be released as a split-cour with 12 episodes in each part. But all previous seasons of Fire Force contained 24 episodes each, released in a single schedule.
Therefore, Fire Force season 3 might not be a split-cour. But this could change based on current trends of airing one cour, followed by a short break, before continuing with the second cour.
How to Watch Crunchyroll & Netflix from Anywhere in the World?
Crunchyroll happens to be the best place for watching your favorite anime, and Netflix comes a close second. You can find almost every anime series on one of these two platforms.
However, thanks to NordVPN, you can access Crunchyroll’s or Netflix’s entire library even if you stay in another country and watch your favorite anime shows. Here’s how to do that:
- Sign up for NordVPN, which has super-fast servers in multiple locations worldwide and offers a secure, private connection no matter where you are.
- Connect to one of the servers. I’d go for either a server in the US or Japan, as connecting to these servers will open up the anime content library on both Crunchyroll and Netflix.
- Next, go to either streaming site and watch the anime you want to watch!
What is Fire Force Season 3 About?
Fire Force, aka Enen no Shouboutai, begins in the 198th Solar Year when certain human individuals spontaneously combust, turning into living Infernos, aka the “Infernals.” And so, a special task force – Fire Force – is set up to fight off these Infernals and their extreme variants, including “Demons.”
To combat the growing threat of the infernals, there are humans blessed with the ability of pyrokinesis, which proves to be extremely useful against infernals. Therefore, the Fire Force recruits pyrokinetic people along with members from the Fire Defense Agency and the Tokyo Armed Forces.
One such third-generation pyrokinetic youth, Shinra Kusakabe, joins Special Fire Force Company 8 as he was accused of killing his own mother and a younger brother named Sho through fire. However, Shinra soon learns that Company 8 investigates companies 1 to 7 for corruption cases.
Things twist further as he finds that a doomsday cult, “the White Clad,” is planning on recreating the Great Cataclysm that set the entire world ablaze, killing most life on Planet Earth.
The season 2 finale hinted at more intense and frequent battles between Company 8 and “the Evangelist,” the leader of the White Clad. But it also showed Shinra pushing himself through training past the “Press of Death” point.
Therefore, Shinra can now establish the Adella link and see the final moments of Company 4’s Captain Hague’s Assassination. This might unveil the corrupt masses involved. However, Company 8 members are on the run as they were accused of kidnapping.
They were branded traitors when they chose to save their captain from the clutches of the Government. Still, it seems that Company 8 will deliberately join the Tokyo Empire to take down the Evangelist.
What to Expect from Fire Force Season 3?
David Production studio from seasons 1 & 2 is again responsible for the Fire Force season 3 animation. Therefore, the graphics for the upcoming season will retain their quality. But no cast or staff members have been declared so far.
We can assume that the previous season’s voice actors and staff members will reprise their roles. After all, much of the team from season 1 returned for season 2. So, most likely, Gakuto Kajiwara will voice Shinra Kusakabe, Kazuya Naka will voice Akitaru Obi, Kenichi Suzumura will voice Takehisa Hinawa, and Aoi Yuki will voice Tamaki Kotatsu.
Though director Tatsuma Minamikawa replaced season 1 director Yuki Yase for season 2, it seems that Tatsuma will reprise his role for season 3 as he was also scriptwriting for the second season.
Producer Chiho Tochikura, Du Yi, and Hiroshi Kamei will join for the third season as they were part of all previous seasons. But there will be changes in assisting staff. Kenichiro Suehiro will be again responsible for music composition.
Conclusion
As for now, all we can say with surety is that Fire Force season 3 is in production, and we will get new updates soon.
Although it is not confirmed to be among the anime releasing in 2024 for now, it won’t be long before the show creators share more solid information about the show, reveal the cast and crew, unveil a brand-new trailer, and announce the release date! I will update the article with new information as soon as that happens.
