Debuting as a 2016 coming-of-age manga, Tomohito Oda’s “Komi Can’t Communicate” aka “Komi-san wa, Komyushō Desu” remained mostly unexplored until 2018 when it hit its tipping point and sold millions of copies at once.

Since both the TV series and anime garnered record viewership, OLM renewed the series moments after the first season concluded. Later, the second season of Komi Can’t Communicate anime aired from April to June 2022.
Given the second season’s hype and ratings, fans were almost convinced that OLM would instantly announce a third season. And so, it was a shock when the season 2 finale gave no hint of a sequel.
This led netizens to skim through the internet to find out if there ever will be a third season for Komi Can’t Communicate.
Will There Be A Komi Can’t Communicate Season 3?
So far, Komi Can’t Communicate season 3 is not officially confirmed, so we don’t have a definite answer. But the anime’s chief director, Ayumu Watanabe, has expressed his desire to continue the series at least until Komi graduates from high school.
Besides, the series is top-rated and has enough manga content available to create another season. Also, the fans are constantly demanding a series renewal. So, a third season will be profitable for all parties involved!

I say that because OLM Studios has a very tight schedule for this year.
The studio has already released PuniRunes, Megaton Musashi 2, and Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack in the first quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, it’s currently airing Mix 2, Go! Go! Vehicle Zoo, the ONA series Beyblade Burst QuadStrike, and the American series Bee and PuppyCat: Lazy in Space.
The studio has also scheduled The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen, Dark Gathering, The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of the Rust Mountains, and The Apothecary Diaries for the second half of 2023.
That said, there was only a few months’ gap between the previous seasons’ renewal and release dates. So, we can hope for Komi Can’t Communicate Season 3 to come out sooner than we expect.
Besides, the production can start immediately after renewal as the cast and crew members from previous seasons will likely reprise their roles.
So, we can expect Ayumu Watanabe and Kazuki Kawagoe to return as chief director and director, respectively. Also, Deko Akao will be returning as the scriptwriter, and Yukari Hashimoto will remain responsible for music composition.
We can also anticipate the voice actors to return. So, Aoi Koga will voice Shoko Komi while Gakuto Kajiwara will play Tadano Hitohito.

On her first day at Itan Private High School, Komi Shoko becomes extremely famous for her stoic beauty. But her refined ‘elegance’ proves to be a double-edged sword as no student wants to feel embarrassed around her.
And so, none dares to approach her, which is why Komi remains friendless.
At the same time, Komi’s class fellows become harsh to a boy named Hitohito Tadano for simply getting the chance to sit next to her. But when Tadano tries to talk to Komi, he discovers that Komi’s stylish appearance is just a facade for her crippling anxiety and severe communication disorder.
This leads Tadano to offer Komi a piece of chalk to express herself without having to speak. And so, she writes about her inability to talk normally and then apologizes to Tadano for wasting his time.
At this, Tadano picks up that chalk and writes his reply to her.
This gesture puts Komi at ease, who then writes about her dream of making one hundred friends. So, Tadano resolves to help her achieve that goal and becomes her first-ever friend.
However, Tadano soon learns that Komi isn’t the only one suffering from social disorder, as nearly all new students are some sort of social misfits.
What Will Be the Plot of Komi Can’t Communicate Season 3?
So far, Tadano has helped Komi find several new friends, and despite her anxiety, Komi has learned to speak her thoughts aloud occasionally. But the journey has also caused the two protagonists to grow feelings for each other.
Only, they’re both pretty reluctant to even admit the possibility.
So, it was nothing short of a treat when Komi Can’t Communicate season 2 finale showed some development on that romantic front as Tadano gifted Komi a hand cream on White Day to acknowledge her Valentine’s Day chocolates.
Later, the series concluded with Komi and Tadano entering their second year in high school.
So, we can anticipate Komi Can’t Communicate season 3 to pick the story from manga volume 10. If that happens, Komi will start her first day in the second year, being nostalgic about her previous year.
Komi will keep thinking that everything exciting has already come to pass until she finds an oddly dressed girl crying in the school bathroom. And so, Komi will use all her hard-earned social skills to comfort another soul.
In other words, we’ll see Komi act more extroverted and expressive. She’ll also make more friends to reach her goal of making one hundred friends.
Since previous seasons have built up romantic tension between Komi and Tadano, we can also hope for some wholesome confessions.
