Kakao Entertainment recently announced that the Solo Leveling Live-Action series was in production! As per the announcement, the live-action adaptation is in the early development stages as the company’s media division works on scriptwriting and planning.
Apart from this official announcement, no further details, like the production team, cast, or the release date for this project, are revealed about the upcoming live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling!

Solo Leveling started as a Korean web novel written by Chugong, which later got a webtoon adaptation by DUBU. The manhwa went on to become one of the most popular manhwa ever, and it soon gained a massive following worldwide!
The series’ popularity played a vital role in it getting an anime adaptation, and the first season was well-received by fans. The anime’s second season is airing at the time of writing this, and it’s already shaping up to be one of this year’s best anime series!
Although the series’ fans didn’t expect another major update, on January 21, 2025, Kakao Entertainment confirmed that a live-action Solo Leveling drama was officially under development!
This news didn’t come out of the blue because a live-action drama adaptation of Solo Leveling was already hinted at by D&C Webtoon’s Creative Director back in 2023, but none of us thought that we’d get an official confirmation so soon!
It seems that now’s a perfect time to be a fan of Solo Leveling!
Not only is it one of the most popular web novel series, but it’s also one of the most popular manhwa and is already being considered one of the best anime series released in recent times.
And now, with the series coming out in one more format, it will undoubtedly become the best in the live-action category, too!
Will It Be A Live-Action Series or A Movie?
At this point, nothing suggests that Solo Leveling’s live-action will be in a series format or if it will come out as a movie.
We will have to wait for an official confirmation regarding its release format.
I personally think that we are going to get a drama adaptation, as hinted previously. A multi-episode series would be perfect to do justice to the source material!
As we all know, Korean dramas are excellent, so a Solo Leveling drama would no doubt be perfect!
