One Piece is not just one of the staples in the world of anime and manga, but it’s also one of the longest-running series out there. So, it’s natural that you’d want to know exactly how many volumes of One Piece there are before you start reading the manga, and in this article, we are going to talk about just that.
Ever since the first chapter of One Piece was released, it’s been going strong. Even now, after more than two decades of publication, each new volume that is released becomes a best seller. So, it’s no surprise that the series is not just one of the best-selling manga series but the best-selling series of all time!
If you are an otaku who hasn’t read or watched One Piece, or you have a friend who is a fan of the series and keeps recommending you to start the series, you must have practically caved in and decided to start reading it. And being curious about how many One Piece volumes there are is a good thing, as you’d be able to gauge the amount of time and money you’d have to invest when reading the manga series.
In this article, you are going to see a huge list of 100+ manga volumes that make up the story of One Piece, and it’s not even finished yet. But don’t let that intimidate you, and just start reading the series. Trust me, and many other otakus like me, you will fall in love with the world that the author has created!
How Many Volumes of One Piece Are There?
One Piece is a manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. It is known for its ever-expanding world, thousands of interesting characters, an intriguing storyline tied together with various plot points, and fantastic world-building unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
When people say that there is no other story that compares to this spectacle, that is, One Piece, they are absolutely correct! It is, after all, one of the best manga series of all time for multiple reasons!
So, how many volumes are there in the One Piece manga? And how many chapters have been released so far?
Right now, there are 1090 manga chapters released at the time of writing this. Regarding the manga volumes released so far, there are a total of 106 tankōbon volumes available for purchase.
As I said earlier, the story of One Piece isn’t yet complete, as it is an ongoing manga series. But Oda-sensei has said that the story is in the final stages, and the series will come to a satisfying conclusion within 3-5 years.
Sounds intense, I know! But there is a reason why, even after being in publication for more than two decades, it still outsells literally every other manga series in circulation!
Are There One Piece Manga Box Sets?
Of course, there are! The manga series is pretty long, so it would be pretty stupid not to have box sets where otakus like us can buy several volumes at once at a lower price. And since One Piece is a long series, multiple manga box sets are available!
One Piece Manga in Order:
Although this particular series is one of the longest in the world of manga, it is well worth the read. Once you get started, you will want more because of the epic world-building, insane plot, and stellar cast of characters.

What is One Piece Manga All About?
One Piece is a manga about Monkey D. Luffy, a pirate who dreams of becoming the Pirate King. He sets out to the seas and begins recruiting people to be a part of his crew. He first meets the Pirate Hunter, Roronoa Zoro, and convinces him to become his crew mate.
Next, he meets Nami, the navigator, Usopp, the sniper, and Sanji, the cook, who all become a part of Luffy’s pirate crew. As they go on adventures together, they meet a ton of interesting characters and several dangerous pirates who are hell-bent on making the lives of people around them miserable.
At first, the story seems like a simple pirate adventure where Luffy’s dream is to become the Pirate King and find “One Piece,” the legendary treasure left behind by the previous Pirate King on a mysterious island somewhere in the sea.
But the story is much more complex than that. It tackles the topics of tyranny, slavery, racism, and how there are people working to keep the world from knowing what true freedom is like. But that’s just the icing on the cake!
As the crew keeps sailing the seas, they meet more interesting people, namely Robin, Chopper, Franky, Brook, and Jinbei, who all become a part of the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy’s pirate crew. And as they go deeper into the New World, a part of the sea that’s filled with some of the most powerful pirates in the world, they come across enemies who are way stronger than they thought, wielding powers beyond their imagination and the strength that could destabilize the world as a whole.
Even when the world keeps expanding, the story keeps getting bigger and bigger, and hundreds of new characters, dozens of new islands, and tons of new technologies and power sets are introduced. Still, the story’s core remains the same, i.e., Luffy’s dream of becoming the Pirate King, which would mean that he is the “free-est man on the planet” capable of doing whatever he wants!
And just like the manga series is a worldwide phenomenon, the anime adaptation of One Piece is also one of the most popular anime around the world!
