Sony, at the E3 2017, definitely gave us a satisfying amount of footage from the new God of War game. The game was announced last year at the E3, so it was only fair that we got to see large chunks of the gameplay and trailer of it.
God of War discusses primarily the relationship of a father and a son in a world of Greek mythology, superpowers and gods. The story brings back the hero of the original God of War, Kratos, who is swept into a mission to save his son, Atreus, from an evil curse. Set in the incredible realm of Norse, Kratos embarks on a journey that deepens the father-son bond all the while fighting enemies, monsters and the main villain of the game who appears to be someone outside the Norse realm.
Check out the amazing trailer of the game that was shown at E3 yesterday:
God of War is more than just fighting bad guys, and that’s what makes the game a lot more ‘mature’ than most. The storyline itself is though-provoking and explores an important human relationship. Kratos deals realistically with his naive son and learns to fulfill his duties as a father.
In an interview with Gamespot, creative director Cory Barlog discussed the realistic elements of the fantasy, action-packed game, saying that, “‘Mature’ works on two fronts, right? The maturity of its handling of mature subjects like violence, death, and loss – but we’re handling it in a different way.” He further added: “It’s interesting that this game is very personal for me. Very, deeply personal. And it’s weird to say that a God of War game is personal for me, but honestly personal stories can come in so many different forms. It’s a very fascinating thing.”
The official release date of the game was not confirmed by Sony at the E3. However, an early release in 2018 is anticipated. God of War will launch on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
