According to tech standard: the slimmer the better. ASUS is definitely keeping up with this standard and just launched its latest gaming laptop, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus that may be the thinnest laptop to date. Not only is the minimum thickness a meager 16.9 mm, the laptop also packs the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Max-Q as its GPU.
ASUS has made a good name when it comes to gaming laptops, with devices ranging from low-cost to the high-end range. There’s one thing in common in all of the laptops by ASUS though, whether cheap or expensive – they are a gamer’s dream come true.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus has similar specs and features that make it one amazing machine. Apart from being powered by the GTX Max-Q design and the less than 1.7 cm thickness, the laptop weighs only about 2.2 kg making it super light too. Moving into the more technical specifications of this gaming laptop by ASUS, the Zephyrus features the 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ as its computing processor like many latest laptops, and also features an internal memory of up to 24 GB with storage space up to 1 TB. The display screen is large: 15.6-inches with a 125 Hz refresh rate and a full HD display, and the laptop also features multiple ports for connectivity.

One problem that powerful GPUs, such as the GTX 1080 Max-Q, face is the overheating. ASUS has counteracted this issue with its Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) that will keep the Zephyrus cool by creating an internal ventilating system. The Active Aerodynamic System is not only designed to keep the machine cool but also relatively quiet. Despite the small thickness of the laptop, the screen does not tend to heat up owing to the Active Aerodynamic System.
All of the features might sound great about the new ASUS gaming laptop but there are a few shortcomings to this machine. For starters, it’s pretty high-end so you’ll need a good amount of cash in hand to purchase the ASUS ROG Zephyrus. In the US, it is priced at $2299 and up (for the GX501VS), and $2699 and up (for the GX501VI). Furthermore, despite its classy, smart design, experts have the idea the ASUS ROG Zephyrus might not be as sturdy as most of the laptops available in the market today.
According to TechRadar, NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang said the ASUS ROG Zephyrus will be 60% more powerful than the PlayStation 4 Pro, and with the features it packs we have little reason to believe otherwise. Gamers across the globe are excited at the launch of this new laptop. Let us know in the comments below what you think of the slimmest laptop in the world.
