The South-Korean electronics giant, Samsung is back at it again with another invention to rattle the tech world. Meet the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro: it’s pretty much everything you’d want in a high-end consumer laptop with some added features that we have never seen before in any laptop.
One of the key features of this laptop that is making headline is its built-in S Pen. Normally Samsung ships the Samsung S Pen separately and it usually costs an extra hundred dollars or so. This time, however, Samsung has taken a more practical route and included the S Pen in the design, much like the Samsung Note smartphones. The S Pen is compatible with Windows Ink and Air Command like any other Samsung S pen, so we know the company has not compromised on this accessory by including it in the laptop.
That’s not all though! The display screen has a 360-degrees swivel hinge so you can actually make it into a notebook or a tablet. The display screen comes in two different variants: a 13-inch screen and a 15-inch screen both with full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixel resolutions) and touchscreen compatibility.
As far as the processor is concerned, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro comes in the 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor model. The 13-inch version offers an 8 GB DDR4 RAM, while the 15-inch version offers a 16 GB DDR4 RAM with the AMD Radeon 540 Graphics Card as a bonus making the laptop more graphic-designer friendly.

The laptop also supports a 256 GB SSD card to level up its storage capacity. Furthermore, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro runs Windows 10 Home as its operating system. Moving on to the ports, we’ve come to know the laptop features no Ethernet ports but does have a Thunderbolt (USB-C) port that supports super fast charging. We still don’t know how long the battery will last, though.
Although the specs the new Samsung Notebook 9 Pro packs are spectacular to say the least, it is receiving some backlash from Samsung fans online. The previous Samsung Notebook 9 Pro (2015 Model) offered a 15.6-inches 4K UHD display while the 2017 model offers only a full HD display. We’re not sure what the company had in mind when making this downgrade but it certainly is something to ponder on. The previous model was also equipped with the GTX950 graphics card which was the latest one at that time. However, the 2017 model only offers the AMD Radeon 540 in the 15-inch variant laptop. These changes may seem rather odd since we expect the new model to pack better specs than its previous version, however some people believe the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro with an S-Pen is a line of new laptops on its own and has no relation to the Notebook 9 Pro (2015 Model) whatsoever.
The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is sturdy in design and despite the 360-degree swivel hinge, is pretty durable. The price on the laptop, however, is a major letdown. Although we did expect a brand name like Samsung to produce expensive machines, a US $1500 might not be justified for the full HD display screen and limited RAM the laptop offers. The price is dangerously close to the Macbook Pro and perhaps it is the name of the company, after all, that has put the $1500 price tag on it.
