How many times have you reached out to grab a snack or a bottle of juice and accidentally spilled it all over your laptop keyboard? We bet that has happened to all of us sometime in our lives. The conventional remedy to an accidental spill was to quickly flip over your machine, in an upside down V to protect it from frying. Now, Corsair has found a less strenuous solution to this problem.
The company has just launched its latest Corsair K68 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and it is claimed to be completely waterproof. Corsair company had spoken about the K68 Mechanical Gaming laptop in these words: “The K68 Mechanical Keyboard will be particularly useful for gamers who sometimes reach for a drink or snack, only for an unseen threat to suddenly appear on screen. As you instinctively reach for your WASD keys to respond, it’s already too late to stop your falling snack or spilling beverage and the loss is often much greater than just a round, quest or mission.”
Talking about the specs and features of this new keyboard, the Corsair K68 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard comes with an IP32 rating which basically means the machine can handle a water spray. Sure, the IP32 rating does not promise the safety of your keyboard if you plunge it into the sea, but it does pledge to protect it from the occasional water spill. Furthermore, the IP32 rating also makes the Corsair K68 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard dust-resistant.
The architecture of the keyboard is complex: the inner circuitry is wrapped in a layer of silicon rubber under each key which is easy to clean. The Space Bar Key is patterned and Corsair has included shortcut keys for volume like the play and pause button in its new K68 model. The keyboard offers a hundred percent anti-ghosting and a maximum key rollover rate that ensures the players command. It also allows simultaneous keystrokes for the more pro-games. Furthermore, Corsair has included a Windows Key Lock Button, like many of the latest gaming keyboards, to avoid accidentally opening the Home Menu.
The Keyboard is backlit with the choice of two variants in switches and LED lights – the Cherry MX Red or the Cherry MX Blue. The LED backlighting can further be configured for every individual key through the Corsair Utility Engine software. The Corsair Utility Engine software also enables macro programming and dynamic lighting effects.
As far as compatibility goes, you need Windows 7 or up to use the Corsair K68 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and the PC must include a USB 2.0 Port with which the keyboard will connect. To utilize the Corsair Utility Engine software, an internet connection is also necessary.
The Corsair K68 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard can be useful for anyone, not just gamers, who are more prone to spill their snacks on their devices. However, with the other features the keyboard packs, it is safe to say it is definitely made for gamers.
Priced at US $99.9 (Rs. 6,400) the Corsair K68 Mechanical Keyboard is now available for purchase in the USA. It is expected to hit the Indian market by Mid-June but will be priced slightly higher in India (Rs. 12,599). The keyboard will include a Warranty Card and a Quick Start Guide as well.
